Executive Manager - Human Resources

Main Purpose of Job:

Reporting to the CEO of Angostura Holdings Limited, the Executive Manager-Human Resources, as HR Lead for the Company, provides leadership and strategic people advice to all levels of the organization and ensures delivery of a full HR service to the employed and contingent workforce. The role is responsible for overseeing and leading the strategic aspects of the human resources, industrial relations, and health and safety functions. A strong understanding of HR best practices and the ability to align HR strategies with the organization's overall goals is required while being a dynamic and visionary leader. The Executive Manager-Human Resources plays a critical role in shaping the company's culture that fosters diversity, equity and inclusion, enhances employee engagement, ensures compliance with relevant regulations.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Develops and executes the overall HR strategy in alignment with the organization's objectives.
  • Work with senior leadership to develop the workforce strategy & plans; to ensure its people policies; culture and working practices enable high performance and organizational capability.
  • Drives continuous service improvement and ensuring strategic and operational priorities are delivered.
  • Works in partnership with managers and mentors their professional team; to deliver strong people practices; drives through organisational change and support continuous improvement to services.
  • Develops and drives initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organization.
  • Coordinates with the executive team, the development and execution ESG initiatives in line with company objectives.
  • Ensures that sound employment, fairness, and transparency; as well as management principles are at the heart of organizational change. Supports and advises management to ensure that structural or cultural changes are effective; sustainable and deliver cost effective structures and achieve business objectives.
  • Partners with managers and senior leaders, on people and organizational issues, providing Strategic and Operational HR advice to help them achieve objectives.
  • Supports, coaches and influences management in dealing with key people management and development issues including resourcing, career development, performance management, succession planning and a range of employee relations matters.
  • Analyses and interprets workforce monitoring data for Senior Management Team, maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Highlights trends and patterns and recommend solutions as necessary to meet trends, shortfalls and planned changes and ensure that managers are aware of these.
  • Collaborates with the executive team to identify and address HR priorities and challenges.
  • Provides guidance and support to the HR team, ensuring effective implementation of HR policies and programs.
  • Drives the development and implementation of talent management strategies, including recruitment, retention, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Leads the development and execution of the company’s Training and Development agenda.
  • Develops and drives the implementation of a strategic workforce planning framework.
  • Analyses HR metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop appropriate interventions.
  • Drives HR efficiency and effectiveness through the adoption and effective use of technology, including HRIS/AI/Self-service across all HR Functions and Industrial Relations.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of industrial relations strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with employee representatives, unions, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Leads negotiations and participate in the resolution of industrial disputes.
  • Monitors and interprets labour laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and advising management on related matters.

 

Health and Safety:

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive health and safety strategy in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Conducts regular audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.
  • Develops and delivers training programs to promote a safety-conscious culture throughout the organization.

 

Compliance and Ethics:

  • Ensures compliance with relevant employment laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Develops and maintains HR policies and procedures that align with legal requirements and promote ethical conduct.
  • Provides guidance and support to employees and management on ethical issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Fosters a culture of integrity, diversity, and inclusion throughout the organization.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management, Business Administration or a related field. An MBA in a related field, such as finance or accounting would be an asset. 
  • Professional certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) are highly desirable.
  • At least 8 years’ progressive experience in HR, negotiations, legal, audit, administration in a unionized environment.
  • Experience in IR and working in unionized environments.
  • Experience in management reporting including budgeting, forecasting, monthly financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • 4+ years’ experience in working with government/regulatory bodies in the export sector would be an asset.

 

Required Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Knowledge of the alcohol industry and manufacturing process in a highly unionized environment would be an asset.
