Responsible for planning, scheduling, overseeing, recording and reporting on maintenance works of all machinery, equipment and property maintenance inclusive of corrective, preventative, predictive and periodic maintenance, in order to minimize down time and maximize production capacity

Summary of responsibilities: Leading Mechanical & Electrical and Maintenance Technicians. Responsible for planning, scheduling, overseeing, recording and reporting on maintenance works of all machinery, equipment and property maintenance inclusive of corrective, preventative, predictive and periodic maintenance, in order to minimize down time and maximize production capacity; overseeing the operations of utilities equipment and acid mixing plant; tracking and keeping inventory records of all repairs and spare parts.

Accountabilities
:

• Maintain and refine the maintenance schedules for plant machinery and equipment, incorporating insights from failure analyses and daily logs to enhance preventative measures.
• Manage and oversee the efforts of Mechanical & Electrical and Maintenance technicians, scheduling work across multiple shifts, and ensuring all maintenance tasks are completed according to plan.
• Plan and schedule daily, short-term, and long-term maintenance activities, including preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency.
• Regularly review daily maintenance logs and reports, analyze equipment failures, and use the data to plan corrective actions and improve maintenance schedules.
• Manage the inventory of repair spares and tools, maintain a listing of parts’ useful life and common failure modes, and ensure timely ordering and replenishment to prevent stock issues.
• Establish and maintain relationships with equipment manufacturers for troubleshooting support, securing updates on equipment and technology, and ensuring compliance with service warranties and updates.
• Perform visits to local machine shops and hardware stores to procure maintenance consumables, spare parts, or oversee external maintenance tasks that cannot be handled in-house.
• Montor and track the effectiveness of maintenance efforts using standard metrics inclusive of PM Compliance, MTBF, MTTR, OEE, Availability, Reactive vs Proactive work.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on assistance to maintenance technicians, ensuring skills development and adherence to best practices.
• Work closely with Quality, Production, and Inventory Coordinators to minimize disruptions and align maintenance activities with production schedules.
• Develop and implement training plans for new hires and ongoing training for existing maintenance staff to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest maintenance practices and technologies.
• Assess and identify gaps in knowledge and training requirements for the technicians. Recommend, facilitate and/or oversee such trainings.
• Enhance documentation practices for all maintenance activities, ensuring detailed records of preventive and corrective maintenance, training logs, and manufacturer interactions are kept.
• Proactively manage and prepare orders for spare parts and maintenance supplies, ensuring a streamlined process for inventory control and avoiding out-of-stock situations.
• Regularly review logs to monitor daily maintenance activities, ensuring all tasks are completed as scheduled and documenting any deviations or unexpected issues.
• Analyze equipment failures using well establish practices inclusive but not limited to FMEA, to identify common or recurring failure modes to determine root causes and corrective actions. Use this information to refine and improve the preventative maintenance schedule, aiming to reduce downtime and increase equipment reliability.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive listing that includes the expected useful life and common failure modes of all machinery and equipment. This listing should be used to predict and prepare for potential failures, facilitating timely preventative maintenance and replacements.
• Provide recommendation for and participate in continuous improvement projects of plant, equipment, and systems.
• Periodically inspect the property buildings, lighting, AC units and surroundings for signs required maintenance.
• Coordinate property maintenance with internal and external parties with necessary approvals.
• Escalate priority issues to upper management
• Ensure proper operations of all Utilities equipment (backup generator, air compressor, water treatment, water storage and acid mixing plant)
• Coordinates the leave of maintenance team to ensure proper staffing and minimal overtime.
• Troubleshoot and rectify plant and equipment problems alongside Mechanical and Electrical Technicians as necessary.
• Devise, fabricate, repair, assemble and/or modify new or existing mechanical components or assemblies.
• Prepare maintenance reports and records in accordance with approved company procedures and practices. Submit reports as per required schedule.
• Ensure proper housekeeping in work place.
• Uphold and enforce all relevant safety rules and good manufacturing practices, ensuring a safe work environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferably Mechanical and Maintenance or Associates Degree in recognized tertiary institution and/or extensive experience in field of Maintenance in a medium to large Manufacturing based environment.
Skill/Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment
• Experience and formal training in maintenance reliability and management
• Experience in use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems software
• Experience in a supervisory position
• Excellent critical thinking, operations analysis and complex problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication written and oral skills
• Strong computer literacy

• Willing to work extended hours and weekends as required
• Must adhere to and enforce all safety rules and good manufacturing practices of the Company during the performance of his/her duties
• Periodically inspect machinery and equipment.
• Verify that tasks were executed as planned and or with noted amendments.
