we are hiring a Engineering Technician (Refrigeration) for our client in Kingston.

Engineering Technician (Refrigeration)

Reporting to the Chief of Engineering and Maintenance, the Engineering Technician (Refrigeration) is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining refrigeration systems and equipment. The Technician will ensure the operation of machinery and all equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications and troubleshooting malfunctions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, observe and test machinery and equipment such as climate control systems, refrigeration units etc.
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration equipment failures and replace worn seal, outer shells and worn-out motors
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and listen for problems using precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, use rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments
  • Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate needed equipment, parts and supplies; place and expedite orders and verify receipt
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices, use hoists, cranes, hand and power tools, examine form and texture of parts
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing Information and trends
  • Aid Operations in running machines at standard speeds and centerline conditions to enhance productivity and efficiency
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations when working with equipment and machinery 

​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience or
  • HEART Level 3 Certification in AC and Refrigeration with a minimum of 3 years’ experience
  • Experience in refrigerated containers as well as split units
  • HEART certification in Industrial Plant Maintenance would be an asset
  • Experience in the food industry would be an asset    
  • Basic understanding of general maintenance and other related areas 

SKILL/COMPETENCIES/SPECIAL CONDITION:

  • Proficient in using refrigeration diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Strong understanding of cooling systems
  • Ability to pay attention to details
  • Good organizational and coordinating skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Team player with initiative and a positive attitude
  • Must be results-oriented
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good interpersonal, organizing, planning and coordination skills
  • Ability to work shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays
