Engineering Surveyor

Job Title: Engineering Surveyor

Location: South Trinidad
Employment Type: Contract
Department: Engineering / Projects / Surveying
Reports To: Senior Surveyor / Project Manager


Job Summary

The Engineering Surveyor is responsible for performing precise measurements and surveys for engineering and construction projects. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting geospatial and topographical data to support design, construction, and quality control activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct land, topographical, and engineering surveys using modern surveying instruments and technology
  • Prepare and maintain accurate survey records, drawings, maps, and reports
  • Set out site works and check alignment, levels, and positions according to project specifications
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to ensure accurate project execution
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and survey standards
  • Assist with geospatial data collection, processing, and presentation for planning and design purposes
  • Provide technical guidance to junior survey staff, where applicable
  • Maintain surveying equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Professional certification or registration (e.g., licensed Surveyor) is an asset
  • Minimum of [2–5] years’ experience in engineering or construction surveying
  • Experience with surveying instruments (Total Stations, GPS, levels) and software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS)
  • Prior experience in construction, infrastructure, or oil & gas projects preferred

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in survey data collection, processing, and analysis
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in field conditions and manage multiple tasks

Working Conditions

  • Field-based role with exposure to construction sites or industrial areas
  • May involve working at heights, outdoors, or in challenging weather conditions
  • Standard working hours, with potential for extended hours depending on project needs
