The Employee Relations Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting the Group Human Resource Manager and operational teams to ensure compliance with internal policies, best practises and labour laws while maintaining positive relationships between employees and management.

The Employee Relations Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting the Group Human Resource Manager and operational teams to ensure compliance with internal policies, best practises and labour laws while maintaining positive relationships between employees and management. The incumbent will act as a mediator, advisor and coach to address employee concerns, resolve disputes and support employee engagement initiatives.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Manage employee relations issues in collaboration with Group Human Resource Manager and ensure compliance with industrial relations best practises and laws.
  • Design and implement programs to enhance employee satisfaction, retention and engagement.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives and culture transformation projects to strengthen work relationships, morale, productivity, and retention.
  • Collect and analyse employee feedback, conduct surveys and identify trends to recommend improvements in workplace culture and HR practises.

 

Industrial Relations

  • Provide IR advice and policy guidance in alignment with HR policies and best practises to line management to support effective decision-making.
  • Manage the disciplinary process by ensuring adherence to proper industrial relations practices and procedures.
  • Review Investigative Reports and provide industrial relations advice to HRBPs and GHRM as required.
  • Monitor and promote compliance throughout the organization with relevant labour laws, regulations and policies.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of strategies that promote and maintain a healthy Employee Relations and Industrial Relations climate.
  • Conduct training sessions for managers and employees on industrial relations policies and procedures.

 

Administration & Compliance

  • Prepare employee relations metrics, analysing trends, and generating reports to support continuous improvement as required.
  • Promote compliance with internal policies, HSE requirements, and audit standards.

 

HR Programmes, Capability Building & Strategy Support

  • Collaborate with Talent Management Specialist to design and deliver HR training and awareness programmes for employees and managers.
  • Provide advice to managers on performance management and recommend corrective action.
  • Contribute to HR strategy development, compensation reviews, and internal equity and benchmarking initiatives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Labour Studies, Human Resource Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ progressive industrial and employee relations experience especially in conducting employee investigations and managing industrial relations matters.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of good industrial relations and employment law.
  • Experience designing and implementing programs to enhance employee satisfaction, retention and engagement.
  • Experience facilitating training on conflict resolution and effective employee relations practises.
