Electrician (ECGC)

East Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC) is seeking to fill the position of Electrician.

JOB SUMMARY

The Electrician is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing systems, including motors, control panels and PLCs, while supporting installations and instrumentation work.  

MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform inspections of electrical systems to identify and replace worn parts.
• Choose appropriate materials based on budget, location, and intended use.
• Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems.
• Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers.
• Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices.
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
• Prepare and submit reports.
• Train new employees.
• Ensure adherence to All company policies/procedures (including Occupation Safety & Health) and the National Electrical Code
• Ensure adherence to preventative maintenance schedules
• Perform any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• An electrically focused certificate, diploma, or degree from a recognized Vocational /Technical Institute.
• At least 3 to 5 years’ industrial or plant maintenance experience.
• Trade certification would be an asset.
• Solid knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, and control panels.
• Experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment is a plus.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
• Must possess the ability to interpret and generate electrical schematics.
• Must be proficient in the use of electrical testing equipment and precision tools to take measurements (calipers, infrared, ultrasound, etc.).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to read technical diagrams.
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Commitment to safety and compliance.
• Class C Driver’s License.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to use precision tools to take measurements (calipers, infrared, ultrasound, etc.).
• Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
