Performing maintenance activities on the general plant equipment.

Objective

The incumbent in this position is required to perform maintenance activities on the general plant equipment. The main objective is to achieve planned targets (maintenance, safety, environment and customer service) which will evolve in the company’s desired results such as improved production and adequate inventory levels through clearly defined maintenance standards, practice, critical thinking and the ultimate continuous performance improvement.

 

Main Responsibilities include:   

Execute all maintenance jobs; planned or unplanned.

  • Ensure that electrical PM is planned for all areas.
  • Ensure that all non-critical jobs are planned on a weekly basis.

 

Plant radio system – All services and new purchases.

  • Liaising with contractor to service radios and equipment.
    • Purchase new radios as required.
    • Rental of radios for special projects.

Plant lighting – New installations and maintenance of existing.

  • Conduct survey to identify areas requiring additional lighting.
    • Plan in-house lighting jobs for the next available tender all lighting that cannot be one in-house.
    • Maintenance of all lighting fixtures and temporary installations of the same.

Maintenance of FLS PLC System.

  • Execute approved modifications to program.
  • Ensure 100% availability of all Processors mops and Dopes printers, hubs and servers.
  • Ensure back up of PLC program and ECS system.
  • Assist operators with the operation of the plant from the ECS system.

Electrical shutdown planning.

  • Provide an approved list of jobs to be executed during a shutdown.
  • Ensure that all required tools and equipment are available to execute jobs.
  • Provide timely feedback to shutdown meetings on progress of jobs.

 

  • Review downtime report: plan and execute corrective action in conjunction with the Production team.
  • Supervise Electrical Staff

 

 

Required Education/Expertise/Skills:

  • BSc in Engineering. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Working knowledge of Auto Cad software. 
  • Training in Electronics, Electrical Power, and PLC System.
  • Hydraulics, Pneumatics and awareness of Linear Alignment, Balancing, Machine Shop and Welding. 
  • Good customer relations and communications skills. 
  • Excellent Supervisory/Leadership skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills. 
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team. 

 

 

Required Experience:

  • With a minimum of 5 years in Electrical Engineering positions. Must
  • Working Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management and Production Systems. Preferred
  • Has good knowledge of the IEEE and NFP70 Codes, Standards and Specifications to provide designs adequate to meet job requirements. Preferred
