JOB TITLE

Electrical Maintenance Technician

 

LOCATION

Yallahs, St. Thomas ( 25 minutes from Downtown Kingston)

 

HOURS OF WORK

40 hours per week, 5 days a week. 

 

SALARY

$2,500,000.00 – Basic + Health Insurance, Allowances & Bonuses    

 

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB

To assist in the proactive maintenance process by working with other team members towards having all Manufacturing and Support equipment maintained in a manner that guarantees successful production while maintaining safety and efficiency. 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:

  1. Partisipating in planning and implementation of the companies Electro-Mechanical Maintenance requirements, based on sound engineering standards and principles, while working along with Senior Technicians, external contractors and Production staff.
  2. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, including programmable controllers, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gauges and test equipment.
  3. Appraises themselves of the manufacturer’s specifications for each piece of equipment and ensures that it is maintained and operated accordingly using engineering drawings, blueprints and equipment manuals.
  4. Knows how to use hand, power and diagnostic tools, is proficient in reading gages, displays and meters used in industry.
  5. Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, calibrates and makes adjustments based on the diagnosis, using repair parts, by correcting existing parts or by innovation to select substitute parts.
  6. Advises operators and line mechanics of the appropriate operating procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  7. Informs management, supervisors, technicians and all staff of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers associated with them.
  8. Make recommendations for the improvement of process in the company that will lead to cost savings, efficiency inclusive of a safer and better working conditions.
  9. Maintains records and other forms of documentation that allows the maintenance process to be held accountable.

 JOB SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications/Education:

  • Post secondary qualifications from a recognized institution in Electrical, Electronic or Electromechanical principles/Industrial Electrical Maintenance. Level  2 HEART qualifications are highly regarded.
  • A thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment, including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes
  • Familiarity with local electrical codes, and the principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.

 Skills/Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in the field of troubleshooting and repairs to electrical, electronics and mechanical equipment in an industrial environment.
  • At least knowledge of in the operating principles of PLC/Micro-processors Diagnostics and be able manipulate HDMI. Have basic understanding of the use of external and internal diagnostic tools.
  • Having a wide range of knowledge and competences in engineering disciplines will be an asset
  • Knowledge of Hydraulic, pneumatic, motor controls, gearboxes, conveyor systems, internal combustions engines etc. are an asset
