Be the vital force behind our success! We're seeking a skilled EI&C Technician (Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls) to maintain and optimize our critical systems. You'll troubleshoot complex electrical circuits, calibrate precision instruments, and ensure seamless operation of control systems that keep our facility running.
Essential Functions
- Observe and follow Ormat’s environmental and operational rules, procedures, and guidelines.
| - Strictly adhere to and enforce safety procedures as required by ORMAT, CAPP, and OSHA.
| - Ensure work is done in compliance with electrical (NEC and NFPA) codes.
| - Install, program, inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment.
| - Install and calibrate analog and discrete instrumentation and control valves.
| - Read, understand and effectively utilize technical information from electrical schematics, vendor information, procedures and codes.
| - Perform voltage, current and resistance calculations and checks with appropriate meter.
| - Calibrate and use test equipment associated with the power plant electrical and safety systems. Interpret readings and outputs of equipment.
| - Participate in planning and scheduling maintenance activities.
| - Create and modify reports and records associated with the electrical systems of the power plant.
| - Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation equipment.
| - Provide recommendations for reliability improvements.
| - Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, enter and exit vehicle without assistance, remain alert while driving for continuous period of time and read and understand maps.
| - Must be able to work weekends and/or holidays when necessary.
| - Must be able to work overtime as required.
| - Must be able to travel extensively to other locations, including rural areas and other states to work on other projects.
| - When assigned as an EI&C Technician 2 or 3:
| - Performs programming for information systems; programs with ladder logic and relay logic; operates PLCs, RTUs and associated inputs/outputs; operates VFDs; performs telecommunications networking.
| - Ensures proper operation of SCADA and HMI systems; identifies and troubleshoots issues pertaining to these systems.

Other Responsibilities
- Perform environmental and general housekeeping duties.

- Attend Monthly Safety and Maintenance training.
|
- Ability to respond to emergency calls
|
- Participate in regular training to improve performance, acquire professional licenses, and maintain certification required by Ormat and government regulations.

- Perform other duties as directed.
- When assigned as an EI&C Technician 2:
- Provide coaching and guidance to junior Electrical, Instrument and Control Technicians.
- Process work orders, assist in inventory, and requisitioning of parts and supplies
- Search for and eliminate organizational weaknesses and jobsite conditions that create conditions for error.
- When assigned as an EI&C Technician 3:
- Provide coaching and guidance to junior Electrical, Instrument and Control Technicians.
- Process work orders, assist in inventory, and requisitioning of parts and supplies
- Search for and eliminate organizational weaknesses and jobsite conditions that create conditions for error.
- Periodically observe fellow maintenance technicians while performing work activities to ensure proper procedures, techniques, and safety guidelines are being followed.

Education, Experience, and Skills
- Must possess at least a high school diploma. Polytechnic or College certification in the field would be an asset.
- Three (3) years of experience in the power generation or similar process industries.
- EI&C Technician 2: Five (5) years of experience in the power generation or similar process industries.
- EI&C Technician 3: Seven (7) years of experience in the power generation or similar process industries.
- Hands-on experience in operations, maintenance and project implementation related to power production, turbine-generators, auxiliary equipment, power and control systems.
- The ability to read process control documentation such as process flow diagrams, control logic block diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical schematics, circuit diagrams and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to methodically troubleshoot electrical and control systems.
- Must be able to work as part of a team and to perform duties safely and efficiently.
- Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and use of the Internet.
- Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s Safe Driving policy.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions and 50 pounds from the floor to the waist.
- Must be able to climb ladders, climb to and work off of elevated platforms, ladders and walkways.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, heights exceeding 10 feet, and in harsh weather conditions.
- Work is subject to exposure to hazardous chemicals, electrical currents, gases, dust, and noxious odors.
- Must wear protective equipment in the performance of some duties.
- The ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.
