JOB SUMMARY: The EI&C Technician will attend to all EE’s assets located at the Clarendon Combined Heat and Power plant, Jamaica and ensure all equipment is in good working order and be proactive in fixing potential problems to ensure production goals are met. The EI&C Technician is a frontline position with responsibility to carry out preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance tasks on the plant’s electrical, instrumentation and control systems and equipment. This role will require physical demands such as moving around, lifting loads, working at heights/depths, in sometimes harsh weather/environmental conditions or in proximity with harsh chemicals and standing for prolonged periods. In order for the Company to maintain an operating schedule of 24 hours, 7 days per week, you will be required to be available to work during shifts that fall within these operating hours, which include weekends and public holidays

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Performing daily maintenance and inspection on all Instrument or Electrical equipment both and off the CCHP plant site as directed by the Maintenance manager, Supervisor or designate. Perform daily PM/CM & Predictive Maintenance activities generated by Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), daily update equipment records in (CMMS) and track findings.
  • Perform necessary maintenance with manual labour and/or repair recommendations for any Electrical/Electronic, instrumentation, and Control assets requiring maintenance, repair or attention. Generate maintenance work requests in CMMS based on equipment defects, needs and observations.
  • Diagnosing and resolving faults in instruments and control and electromechanical systems and provide reports using testing devices and schematics
  • Daily execution of maintenance work orders generated from CMMS database.
  • Creating equipment inspection reports via CMMS.
  • Configure and optimize different computer-based control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and DCS.
  • Providing support for installation of new equipment.
  • Maintaining equipment and reporting defects observed at Natural Gas (NG or LNG) metering and receiving stations and on Power Block.
  • Define and maintain the required spare parts for inventory and manage the storage and proper tracking of all spare parts.
  • Carry out audits and risk assessments and make recommendations for performance improvements of operating assets at CCHP, driving continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing work carried out by OEM or 3rd party contractors for the electrical, instrumentation or DCS assets at the power, steam and gas plant.
  • Generate post outage reports on both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Making recommendations for performance improvements of operating assets at CCHP.
  • Reviewing operations data and identifying operating trends that can lead to malperformance of equipment and provide weekly reports.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of similar experience in a process plant or similar capacity
  • Diploma in Engineering and/or equivalent or higher
  • In-depth knowledge of standard procedures in electrical/instrumentation controls, hydraulic systems and electrical/electronic processes and systems
  • Communicate accurate information to staff, supervisors and Plant Management.
  • Experience with industry best practices using CMMS
  • Knowledge of or certification from NFPA, IEEE, NEC, IEC
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of power plant operations
  • Familiarity with repairs and calibration of plant electrical, instrumentation and control equipment and Power Plant Monitoring System (PPMS/DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers etc.
  • Sound knowledge of Industrial Safety
  • Knowledge of industrial and utility health, and environmental standards.
  • Knowledge of LOTO, Confine Space and Hot Work permit system and requirements.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This role will require physical demands such as moving around, lifting loads, working at heights/depths, in sometimes harsh weather/environmental conditions or in proximity with harsh chemicals and standing for prolonged periods, and travel to community sites.
