The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College is seeking exceptional full-time Education Lecturers in Primary Education. 

 

Successful candidates will teach at the Associate and Bachelor’s levels, contribute to curriculum development, and support student success through innovative, student-centered instruction. Applicants should have a strong background in Education and a commitment to academic excellence.


The Lecturers must be able to comfortably instruct in at least five of the courses listed.

Math Specialist & Generalist

Mathematics for Elementary Teachers

Teaching Elementary Mathematics I

Teaching Elementary Mathematics II

Curriculum Development and Instruction

 Assessment of Student Learning

Integrating STEAM Education

Special Education and Generalist

The Social and Cultural Foundations of Education

Classroom Management

Introduction to Special and Inclusive Education

Educational Psychology


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating with other faculty members and contributing to the development of the department and the institution.

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform instructional related responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, vision, policies and procedures of the College;
  • Exhibit a record on innovative pedagogy in a face-to-face environment, as well as online.
  • Develop innovative and attractive course syllabi, which are in line with current industry trends and expectations.
  • Provide a quality learning experience for all students;
  • Teach five courses (15-17 credit hours) per semester;
  • Teach day, evening, weekend and/or online courses at assigned campus/centre. May be assigned to teach courses at more than one location;
  • Serve as an academic advisor to students
  • Engage with external institutions, organisations, and the wider community to support research, teaching, and the campus’ strategic objectives.
  • Assist in the marketing of the Department's programmes and recruitment of students;
  • Actively participate in Department or College Committees.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • An earned doctoral degree in relevant discipline from an accredited or recognized institution, and a minimum of four (4) years of teaching or other academic experience with evidence of continuing scholarship.

OR

  • A master’s degree or its equivalent in relevant discipline from an accredited or recognized institution and seven (7) years of successful teaching or other academic experience as a Lecturer, and evidence of continuing scholarship.


 Key Competencies

  •  Communication Skills: strong verbal and written communication. Must have an ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively to all levels of audience.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: must have the ability to mentor and guide students in their professional development.
  • Technological Proficiency: familiarity with educational technology and digital tools to enhance learning and must have competence in delivering instructions in both in-person and the virtual environment.
  • Leadership and Advocacy: skills in working collaboratively with colleagues and external entities. Must be a visionary leader.

Compensation

Salary - $55,438.33 (USD)

1st $10,000.00 tax exempted

8% tax thereafter

8% Gratuity on successful completion of contract.
