ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

The Electrical Engineer will lead in the installation and maintenance of plant equipment to maximize equipment availability and achieve department and company objectives.

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer will lead in the installation and maintenance of plant equipment to maximize equipment availability and achieve department and company objectives. This role ensures high-quality maintenance operations while optimizing the use of materials, machinery, and labour. It involves troubleshooting plant equipment, ensuring continuous machinery operation, and prioritizing safety. The primary focus of this position is the maintenance and upkeep of all electrical equipment.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Maintenance Team to deliver on joint projects and provide cover for all maintenance needs.
• Liaise with and supervise electrical contractors on projects, performing quality checks as required.
• To ensure that all agreed safety controls associated with the operation of assigned assets are consistently adhered to.
• Monitor employees and equipment regularly to ensure proper safety and quality procedures are followed (e.g. SOP, GMP and OSHA).
• To inspect, monitor, install, calibrate, service, upgrade, program, troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic equipment and controls including PLCs, according to standard engineering practices, manufacturer’s specifications and company procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks as required by the company procedures, including electromechanics, pneumatics and robotics.
• To ensure that all technical reports are completed accurately and submitted on-time.
• Leads and participates in ongoing process improvement projects with but not limited to SCADA Systems, Dream Report etc.
• Account for time spent on jobs by Maintain X, work sheets, logs and other authorized means.
• Determine specifications, source and cost of electrical equipment and contractors needed and implement in consultation with Plant Manager.
• Actively participates in efforts related to improving and optimizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness. 

Position Requirements

• Minimum a BSc. Degree in Electrical Engineering, a M.Sc. Degree preferred, PLC training from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment, at least 2 of which should have been served in a leadership capacity.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting and programming of PLCs controlling instrumentation, Electrical System Design and Maintenance, SCADA systems, Process Automation, Instrumentation and Electronics, Electromechanical Systems: electromechanics, pneumatics, and robotics, Data Communication systems.
• Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance for electrical.
• Prior experience in the Food Industry will be considered an advantage
