The incumbent provides support to the Warehouse and Distribution Department through the transportation of raw materials and other supplies

SALARY:  $27,682.00 PER WEEK

                                                           

            Core Function

Reporting to the Warehouse and Distribution Manager the incumbent provides support to the Warehouse and Distribution Department through the transportation of raw materials and other supplies from suppliers to the head office and rural plants as required in order to facilitate timely and efficient production

Minimum Qualification

  

(a)                Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Secondary education
  • General Drivers Licence
  • At least three years accident-free driving, operating a pick-up or truck

 

 

(b)               Minimum Required Skills & Specialized Techniques

  • Ability to read and write

  • High degree of independence of thought and responsibility
  • Good interpersonal, human relations and communication skills;
  • Must be customer focussed

  • Physically fit
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
  • Visual acuity 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50)
  • Drivers Licence to operate vehicles with unladen weight of 7,170 kilogram and laden weight of 12,272 kilograms

 

Working Conditions
  • Manual/physical efforts – carrying supplies, bending, stretching, twisting and sit for long periods of time during daily routine
  • Outdoor environment – inclement weather, sun, dust, etc.
  • Occasional irregular hours (night and weekends)

Liaises with:

 

(a)    Internally:

  • Warehouse and Distribution Manager
  • Plant Managers

  • Suppliers

 

 Perform all Driving activities to include:

 

    • Ensure the proper and handling and transportation of raw materials and supplies from suppliers in accordance to the food storage and prevention of infestation regulations

 

    • Conduct inspections of vehicle before departing to deliver raw materials and supplies

 

    • Ensure that the company vehicles are serviced regularly, in a road worthy condition at all times and notify Manager of any issues

 

    • Ensure that the company vehicles are kept in a sanitary condition to transport raw material when necessary.

 

    • Operate the forklift when the designated forklift operator is absent from work

 

    • Maintain driver logs and complete pre-trip inspections

 

o   Follow all NPL Operational Procedures and QC Standards

 

o   Adhere to all safety requirements when operating the company vehicles or the forklift 

 

 

o   Follow delivery/pickup instructions from the manager of the Warehouse and Distribution Department and other managers as the case warrants.

  • The vehicle must be kept clean, both internally and externally, at all times.
  • Absolutely no eating, drinking, or smoking is permitted in the vehicle.
  • Regular cleaning and checks should be carried out to ensure the vehicle remains in good condition.
  • Adhere to all road codes
  • Any damages, malfunctions, or maintenance needs must be promptly reported to the relevant department.
  • No unauthorized passengers are allowed in the vehicle
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Manager

               

o   Perform any other duties as assigned by the Warehouse and Distribution Manager

 

 

AUTHORITY TO:

  • Advise Supervisor of items needed (new or repair) in order to efficiently perform duties;
  • Clean and maintained pick-up in roadworthy conditions

  • Company vehicles are serviced and maintained in roadworthy conditions

  • Pick- up is serviced and maintained in accordance with established scheduled and standards

  

SALARY:  $27,682.00 PER WEEK
