JOB AIM

Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA) is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person for the role of Driver. The Driver is responsible for safely transporting customers, fleet vehicles, and equipment while ensuring timely service delivery. This role requires excellent driving skills, professionalism, and a commitment to road safety and customer satisfaction.

 
CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed-Term

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES
  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport customers, fleet vehicles, and equipment.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure operational readiness and report any maintenance needs.
  • Always maintain a clean and presentable vehicle.
  • Assist with fleet vehicle inspections, ensuring compliance with maintenance schedules.
  • Follow all traffic laws and company safety protocols to minimize risks.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch teams and customers to provide updates and service details.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of trips, service calls, and vehicle conditions.
  • Assist with the movement of merchandise and marketing materials across the group of companies.
  • Provide valet, airport transfers, replacement driver and chauffeur services for clients as required.
  • Operate shuttle services for internal or external transport needs.
  • Perform minor vehicle troubleshooting and basic maintenance checks.
  • Support special events and corporate functions requiring transport logistics.
  • Ensure professional interaction with clients and uphold the company’s service standards.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 
  • Valid Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) license, with a strong track record of extensive driving experience.
  • Must be 23 years or older to qualify for the role.
  • No outstanding traffic violations or unpaid tickets.
  • Certified driver with at least three (3) years of experience in a professional driving role.
  • Familiarity with routes in and around the corporate area, ensuring efficient navigation and timely service.
  • Team Jamaica Trained is a plus
  • Basic automotive technical knowledge or certification in vehicle maintenance is an advantage
DESIREABLE SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
  • Proficient in operating both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely navigate long-distance routes and diverse driving conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong punctuality and time management skills, ensuring reliability and adherence to schedules.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and emergency call-outs.
