ROLE 

The purpose of this role is to support the design and construction teams by managing change requests, integrating equipment into design platforms, performing quantity take-offs, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation across both 2D and potentially 3D platforms. The role also contributes to the development of construction methodologies and ensures alignment between design documentation and site conditions.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Change Management: Receive, assess, and manage change requests from site teams. Ensure timely incorporation of approved changes into design documentation (2D and potentially 3D). Maintain traceability and documentation of all changes for coordination and audit purposes.
  • Design Support: Review design drawings for accuracy, feasibility, and constructability. Support the integration of equipment and systems into design layouts, ensuring alignment with project specifications and site conditions.
  • Documentation: Assist with site as-built documentation and updates. Consolidate comment sheets and feedback from various stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement and alignment.
  • Schedules and Quantities: Support the preparation and updating of equipment schedules. Perform quantity take-offs for materials and resources to support procurement and cost estimation. Ensure consistency and accuracy across disciplines and project phases.
  • Construction Methodologies: Contribute to the development and documentation of construction methodologies, working closely with the construction and technical teams.
  • Site Support: Provide technical support to site teams during construction phases, particularly in interpreting design documents and resolving discrepancies. Participate in site visits to gather data, verify conditions, and support design updates.

DIMENSIONS

  • Organisation Chart: The role fits within the technical and construction support functions and interfaces with multiple departments and external stakeholders.

INTERFACES

Requires coordination and collaboration with:

  • Subcontractors and Suppliers: To ensure design changes and equipment integration are communicated and implemented effectively.
  • Technical Department: For design validation, updates, and technical support.
  • Construction Team (Method and Temporary Works): To align design documentation with construction methodologies and temporary works planning.
  • HSE and Quality Departments: To incorporate safety considerations into design and maintain a register of risks associated with design and construction activities.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Change Request Management

  • Receive and assess change requests from site teams.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to validate and approve changes.
  • Update 2D and 3D design documentation accordingly.
  • Maintain a log of all changes for traceability and audit purposes.

2. Design Integration and Coordination

  • Integrate equipment and systems into design layouts.
  • Review design drawings for constructability and compliance with specifications.
  • Update documentation based on site feedback and as-built conditions.
  • Ensure alignment between design intent and actual site conditions.

3. Schedule and Quantity Support

  • Assist in preparing and updating project schedules in coordination with planning teams.
  • Perform quantity take-offs from design drawings to support procurement and cost estimation.
  • Validate quantities across disciplines and project phases to ensure consistency.

4. Site and Team Support

  • Provide technical support to site teams during construction.
  • Facilitate communication between design office and site teams.
  • Participate in site visits to verify conditions and support design updates.
  • Resolve discrepancies between design documentation and site implementation.

EXPERIENCE / CRITERIA

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc or MSc Degree in Building Services, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience with professional chartership.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience in water industry systems is recommended.
