Job Description

Job Purpose: The Director of Tourism Intelligence (TI) Unit  will organise and develop all market intelligence activities and services provided by the DMO, transforming TCI DMO from a traditional DMO to a Smart-DMO. All data generated by the DMO will be elaborated to assist the Ministry of Tourism to permanently monitor the impacts of the tourism industry on TCI economy and provide useful information to define sustainable tourism development policies and strategies.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Market Intelligence Unit
  • Collaborate with all other TCI DMO Departments and Units to provide them all data related to the tourism industry in TCI
  • Maintain all needed relations with the TCI tourism stakeholders that collect tourism data (ex. Airports and Seaports Authorities, Border Authorities, TCIG, tourism accommodations, etc.)
  • Responsible for the identification and monitoring of all KPIs related to the TCI DMO activities
  • Verify the correct execution of data analysis
  • Analyze and approve statistical reports related to the tourism performance of the destination
  • Manage the preparation of market research budget for surveys and statistical analysis
  • Coordinate all research and survey activities about the analysis of the tourism industry and tourism demand in TCI
  • Provide detailed analysis of all data elaborated by the TCI DMO
  • Identify, propose to the CEO and implement new KPI and other tourism indicators which will be important to profile the TCI tourism offer and demand, including the development / set up on new IT tools to be used to collect new generation data
  • Provide permanently all data analysis to the Chief Marketing Officer and Marketing and Sales Unit Manager and assisting them to define marketing strategies and activities
  • Make recommendations based on the outputs of all data analysis carried out by the Market Intelligence Unit

Others:

  • Participate to international symposiums / meetings / forums about tourism statistics and impacts
  • Pay specific attention to making sure all statistical data is both easily accessible and easy to interpret for all TCI tourism stakeholders
  • Identify potential partners to develop specific projects related to tourism data collection and interpretation
  • Collaborate with the CEO for the reporting about the TCI-DMO annual performances
  • Identify tourism data packages that could be sold by the TCI DMO to the tourism stakeholders in TCI

 

Skills/Qualifications/Competencies:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or Statistics.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams that carry out statistical analysis of the tourism industry, including trends and impact assessments
  • Thorough knowledge of data analysis, Strong analytical, problem solving and statistical inference etc.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Good Leadership and management capacities
