The Director - Properties & Projects manages the maintenance and upkeep of all company buildings and projects, and coordinates the infrastructural development across our business in line with standards and targets.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:
  • Have a working understanding of project management, being able to manage new capital projects, repairs and refurbishments, coordinate all project activities relevant to new store development, store refurbishment and property improvement across the business to ensure efficiency and delivery in line with project plan and bring them in on budget.
  • Have competent skills to deal with contractors and suppliers of equipment and other professionals to develop building plans inclusive of architecture and infrastructure, sanitary and electrical systems, hydraulics and other requirements to ensure these are aligned with the Company’s store design standards, project plans, building codes and planning permissions.
  • Have a good track record in property maintenance management and up-keep, managing this in keeping with standards and guidelines and proficient at multi-tasking, having the ability to manage the maintenance and upkeep of several properties island-wide.
  • Have the discipline to work independently and with the appropriate profile to work with middle and senior managers to deliver company/project objectives and also represent the company in dealing with architects, quantity surveyors, structural engineers and contractors.
  • Able to effectively and efficiently receive and evaluate bids for award, undertake job costing and reviewing completed work to ensure compliance and delivery in line with specifications.
  • Have oversight of Loss Prevention and Health & Safety.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

QUALIFICATION / EDUCATION:
  • A first degree in Civil engineering, with working knowledge in the electrical and/or mechanical fields.
   SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 years' commercial experience in the construction industry.
  • Familiarity/working knowledge of building codes and planning permissions.
  • Significant strength in Project Management, with at least 3 years’ experience as a senior Project Manager; having a good track record in the field.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA.
   PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Strong organizational skills, able to coordinate multiple projects and synchronize work with project timelines.
  • Good communication and relationship management skills, able to work with internal cross-functional teams and externally with construction companies and other suppliers of services.
  • A self-starter, able to work on own initiative.
