Our client is seeking an accomplished, highly organised, and strategic Director to oversee the Project and Portfolio Management Office. This critical position is responsible for centralising business processes in order to analyse, categorise, and group projects into portfolios that support organisational objectives. The Director will provide leadership and strategic guidance for enterprise-level programmes, ensuring adherence to budgets, timely delivery, and compliance with established quality standards.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer the role will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, delivery and governance of a diverse range of projects across the organisation. Ensuring the timely delivery of all initiatives aligned with business objectives, within defined scope and budget, by leveraging expertise to effectively prioritise projects, optimise resource allocation, and manage risks efficiently:

  • Develop and implement the organisation’s project and portfolio management strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a high performing team of project managers and support staff.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, from initiation to completion, ensuring successful delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain project management best practices, tools and methodologies.
  • Prioritise and align projects with organisational goals, balancing resources and budgets.
  • Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Continuously assess and improve project management processes and performance metrics.
  • Develop and apply templates, tools, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient project execution and monitoring according to scope and deliverables.

Preferred Profile

  • Masters Degree in Business, Management, Public Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in project management of large-scale programmes, with at least 5 years experience leading multiple projects concurrently.
  • Project Management designation with expert knowledge of project management methodologies and benefits realisation.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, communication, and influencing skills with a track record of building trust and driving alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Drives transformation and fosters a receptive culture.
  • Ability to interpret budgets, conduct cost-benefit analyses and monitor project financials.
