Director - Internal Audit

The position is responsible for planning and executing financial audit assignments to ensure compliance with standard accounting practice and adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures.

Position Summary:

The position is responsible for planning and executing financial audit assignments to ensure compliance with standard accounting practice and adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures. This individual will report directly to the company President and indirectly to the Audit Committee, ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to the highest ethical and professional standards.

Major Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• The drafting and recommendation of annual audit program and developing specific strategies for audits
• Evaluating the progress of these audits and ensuring timeliness of completion
• Presenting the results of audits to key persons in the organisation, outlining deficiencies and systemic weaknesses identified and the explanations received
• Coordinating quarterly audit reviews of the financial statements for presentation based on specific timelines
• Setting specific targets for audit team and the initiation of follow-up action
• Appraising direct reports and identifying training needs along with recommended training initiatives
• Periodically conducts all island site visits to make visual assessments
• Evaluating business processes to identify gaps, risks and failures, and find opportunities which can lead to improvements
• Facilitating partnerships with team and department leadership to identify options to minimize the risk associated with project plans and capitalize on opportunities
• Must add value by maintaining a strict independence of mind

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors of Science degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent qualifications
• Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) is preferred
• Professional Accounting Designation
• Minimum of 10 -15 years of progressive experience in internal audit, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, with exposure to computer systems and applications

• Well-developed analytical skills for writing cogent reports on audit findings with sound recommendations for improvement
