Our client is looking for a dynamic, ethical, and experienced legal professional with profound impact in the fight against corruption, instituting and conducting criminal proceedings.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Board of Commissioners, this critical position will oversee the nation’s prosecutorial initiatives targeting corruption.  The incumbent will be responsible for directing significant investigations, supervising a team of experienced prosecutors, and engaging with essential stakeholders to promote integrity and transparency within public service.  This role offers an exceptional opportunity to support Jamaica’s ongoing commitment to good governance and the rule of law.  Key duties include:

  • Direct all prosecutions of corruption cases under the Commission’s Act or other relevant laws.
  • Create and carry out approaches for investigating and prosecuting complex corruption cases, while offering specialized legal guidance to the Commission.
  • Provide guidance to law enforcement agencies and government institutions regarding legal matters related to corruption.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to a committed team of prosecutors and legal professionals.
  • Support ongoing best practices and enhancement efforts in the prosecution service by actively participating in the Division's annual strategic planning, corporate planning, and budgeting activities.
  • Work together with the Asset Recovery Agency (as guided by the Proceeds of Crime Act) regarding the confiscation, forfeiture, or retrieval of assets linked to corruption.        

Preferred Profile

  • Undergraduate Degree in Law (LLB) along with Certificate of Legal Education (CLE).
  • Post Graduate Degree, Undergraduate Degree or other Professional Certification in Management from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience as an Attorney-at-Law with some prosecutorial experience.
  • Experience in Supervisory Management.
  • Knowledge in finance, human resources, planning, evaluation and sound governance.
  • Management of meetings, report writing, public speaking as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of anti-corruption laws, criminal procedure, and international best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and a track record of managing sensitive investigations.
  • Effective communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to public service and ethical standards.
  • Statutory declaration of assets is required.
