Diagnostic Radiographer

A Premier Diagnostic Imaging Facility, X-ray and Diagnostic Ultrasound Consultants Limited, opened its doors in 1981, with the introduction of Diagnostic Ultrasonography to the English Caribbean Region.

In 1983, its goal of promoting early diagnosis was advanced by the introduction of Diagnostic Mammography.

Over the years, the Company has expanded its portfolio to include General Diagnostic Radiology, Angiography, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Multi-Detector CT scanning, the establishment of the Region’s first Linear Accelerator-based Cancer Treatment Centre, and in 2017, opened the first Nuclear Laboratory and Molecular Imaging Centre in the English Caribbean – offering PET / CT scanning technology – the most advanced for cancer detection through imaging.

Spanning some 10,000 sq. ft., there is a focus on providing a comfortable and   pleasant experience for clients and staff alike.

Diagnostic Radiographer

The Radiographer undertakes radiographic and imaging examinations of clients with the use of various forms of imaging technology and by so doing aids in the diagnosis of patients through capturing images of bones, organs and tissues. The radiographer is fully engaged in patient care inclusive of booking and preparation of patients for procedures, conducting examinations (x-rays, MDCT scans, bone densitometry, PET/CT scans) and assisting with various interventional procedures.

Key Competencies/Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of radiologic, equipment uses.
  2. Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  4. Proficiency in the use of computers.
  5. Attention to detail.
  6. Ability to adapt easily to changing conditions and work responsibilities (flexibility).

Education/Experience:

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Diagnostic Imaging (Radiography).
  2. Registration with Professions Supplementary to Medicine.
  3. Experience with MDCT imaging technologies would be an advantage but is not an absolute requirement.
