The Data & Business Analyst I must be flexible, highly adaptive to changes in the organization and possess excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service focus. He/she must be a very meticulous, organized and detail-oriented individual.

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Data & Business Analyst I plays a key role in supporting the data driven decision making culture within Guardian by leveraging the Enterprise Analytical and Reporting Capability. She/he would have responsibility for the following: 
•    Querying databases, extracting the relevant data, cleaning, organizing and analyzing data effectively. 
•    Building business intelligence dashboards to highlight important key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends in the business.
•    Communicating actionable insights and information to Business and IT leaders and partnering with functional teams to embed analytics into existing processes.
•    Collaborating with team members and stakeholders across the Group to understand the business and its data and support the development of data driven solutions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1.    Data Analysis 
•     Extract, clean, and transform large datasets from the Data Warehouse, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
•    Conduct in-depth data exploration, identifying patterns, and performing basic statistical analysis to support business decision-making.
•    Assist in developing and maintaining data models and frameworks to organize and structure data for efficient analysis.
•    Utilize data analysis techniques to identify potential business growth and improvement opportunities.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and create dashboards and reports to track performance metrics.

2.    Data Storytelling 
•    Develop strong business acumen to form understanding of insurance and commercial practices, ensuring informed decision-making and strategic alignment. 
•    Design and develop interactive dashboards, charts, and reports that effectively communicate data-driven insights to stakeholders.
•    Create data-driven narratives and stories that help stakeholders understand and act upon the insights derived from the data.
•    Apply best practices in data visualization to ensure clarity, accuracy, and usability of the visualizations.

3.    Process Optimization 
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data governance best practices and ensure data quality and integrity.
•    Develop and maintain data documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data dictionaries.
•    Analyse existing data processes, identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and recommend solutions to streamline operations.

4.    Research and Development
•    Conduct research on new tools, technologies, and methodologies related to business intelligence and data analytics.
•    Collaborate with stakeholders to identify research and development opportunities and propose innovative solutions.
•    Participate in professional development activities and engage with industry communities to stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in the field.

5.    Any other duties as assigned by the Manager, Advanced Analytics.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 
•    Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Information Technology or a related field from a recognized tertiary level educational institution.
•    At least 1 year experience in data analytics, and business optimization. 
•    Skilled in Excel, PowerPoint, SQL.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: 
The Data & Business Analyst I must be flexible, highly adaptive to changes in the organization and possess excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service focus. He/she must be a very meticulous, organized and detail-oriented individual. The individual must possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to make sound decisions. He/she must possess unquestioned integrity and be able to work with confidential information and able to present findings clearly and efficiently to Managers and Executives. The incumbent must be able to efficiently perform in a fast-paced environment while continuously striving to learn and improve on new systems and ideas.
