DATA ANALYST

SUMMARY

As a regional tourism development organization, the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is committed to shaping a resilient, data-informed, and inclusive future for Caribbean tourism. The post of Data Analyst will be integral in supporting the organization’s mission to deliver impactful research, foster regional collaboration, and strengthen policy formulation across the tourism sector.

The CTO is therefore seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join its Research Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data analytics, statistical methods, and business intelligence tools, with an ability to interpret data, and extract insights from diverse tourism-related datasets. The Data Analyst will support the CTO’s strategic goals and overall mandate by contributing to the development of robust forecasts, dashboards, statistical reports, and analytical publications that inform tourism policy and strategic decision-making and enhance regional tourism competitiveness.

The role involves working with a wide range of tourism datasets, including visitor arrivals, airlift, cruise ship, yachting, ferry and accommodation statistics, as well as data from various surveys, while supporting CTO’s research outputs and member services. The successful candidate will be detailed oriented, take a proactive approach to data exploration, and possess a collaborative mindset.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 1.    Data Analysis and Interpretation

  • Analyze tourism-related data from various internal and external sources to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Interpret analyzed data to provide meaningful insights that support decision making and strategic planning.
  • Support the development of forecasting models for tourism arrivals and other performance indicators.
  • Conduct exploratory and statistical analysis to derive insights that inform CTO’s research outputs.

 2.    Data Visualization and Reporting

  • Design and maintain dashboards and data visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Produce clear, well-structured reports, charts, and graphics to communicate analytical findings.
  • Assist with the preparation of CTO publications including statistical reports, research papers, working documents and departmental presentations.

 3.    Data Management and Quality Assurance

  • Prepare, validate, and maintain datasets to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Document data sources, transformation processes, and methodologies used in analytical work.
  • Implement quality control procedures and support the development of data governance standards.

 4.    Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with CTO member countries and external partners to collect, verify, and update tourism-related data.
  • Support member requests for data or custom analysis and assist with benchmarking studies and survey reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on multi-departmental projects requiring data input or analysis.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant or proven experience in data analysis, business intelligence or a similar analytical role, preferably in tourism, travel, or economic development sectors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and statistical software such as SPSS.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Working knowledge of SQL and data analysis/programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Ability to translate data into compelling visual formats.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing technical and non-technical reports or documents.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Professional integrity and respect for data confidentiality.
