IBM Global Sales team is interested in recruiting a dynamic and results-driven individual versed in Data, AI, and Automation to join their team, selling into IBM’s Caribbean region. PTS-T is part of the overall Ecosystem team with overall responsibility to assist in the building of partner capability and capacity for sustained IBM growth.

Partner Technical Specialists – Territory engages clients with an opinionated point of view as an IBM technologist, practitioner, and brand specialty solution expert.  Their deep knowledge and experience with IBM Technology, along with a deep understanding of our competitive advantage, places them in a unique position of influence.  They leverage their technical insights to work alongside IBM’s Ecosystem Partners to remove technical inhibitors and progress opportunities to closure. They also work with Ecosystem Partners and IBMers to identify opportunities and progress technical sales, resulting in client success and IBM Technology business growth.

The IBM Data, AI, and Automation Partner Technical Specialist is responsible for the promotion of IBM solutions including Business Automation, Integration, AIOps, Cloud Pak for Data and possesses knowledge of data management (replication, virtualisation, ETL), governance (data quality, data catalog) and data science solutions.

The preferred candidate should reside in Barbados, however individuals residing in Aruba, Bahamas, Curacao, Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad will be considered. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage with clients and Partner to develop the trust and credibility to help them grow their businesses by solving strategic and tactical business problems with IBM’s proven cognitive and cloud technology solutions.
  • Use business/technical acumen to understand the client's business/technical requirements, and/or competitive landscape. Sales Do-er/hunter role
  • Work with IBM client teams, IBM Business Partners and other IBM brand sellers to identify, develop and progress a robust opportunity pipeline.
  • Collaborate, Architect with IBM Hardware / Software and Services teams to define, design, and detail the aspects and feasibility of proposed integrated solutions and Sales Business Development.
  • Work with the technical team to deliver effective Proof of Concept (POC), Proof of Technology (POT), support critical situations.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Applicants must hold at least a first degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 3+ years of experience with IBM Data & AI Software solutions and/or competing solutions
  • Must have a proven record of successfully understanding client issues and pulling together strategies to ensure the client is successful.
  • Excellent customer relations; verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to successfully work with sales reps, SMEs and business partners to close business deals.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and associated opportunities simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn IBM’s line of products and services.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve business and technical challenges.
  • Ability to negotiate and prioritize projects.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Strong experience and understanding of pre-sales support processes is a plus
  • Formal sales training courses (i.e. Demo2Win, Solution Selling, Strategic Selling, Challenger Sale, Target Account Selling, Integrity Selling, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Containerization and Kubernetes (i.e. Red Hat OpenShift)
