DELIVERY DRIVER

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Delivery Driver/Bearer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled driver with extensive knowledge of Jamaica's road network, capable of operating various commercial vehicles while ensuring safe and timely deliveries. This position requires both driving experience and physical capability to handle loading and unloading of goods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely operate various vehicles including Isuzu trucks and Toyota Hiace buses (3000-5000 class)
• Drive standard/manual transmission vehicles proficiently
• Complete daily deliveries according to scheduled routes
• Navigate efficiently across all 14 parishes
• Plan optimal routes to ensure timely deliveries
• Manage multiple delivery stops per trip
• Transport goods, equipment, and occasionally passengers
• Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit
• Assist with lifting and moving heavy items
• Organize delivery vehicle for maximum efficiency
• Handle fragile items with appropriate care

• Obtain signatures and proof of delivery
• Complete delivery logs and vehicle inspection reports
• Communicate delivery status and any delays to dispatch/management
• Report any delivery issues or customer complaints promptly
• Handle cash collections when required and provide accurate change

• Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections
• Check oil, water, tire pressure, and other fluids
• Keep vehicle clean inside and out
• Report mechanical issues immediately
• Ensure vehicle has necessary documents (registration, insurance, fitness)
• Perform basic maintenance tasks

• Interact professionally with customers and clients
• Represent company positively at all delivery points
• Handle customer inquiries courteously
• Resolve delivery issues diplomatically
• Maintain neat, professional appearance

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid General Driver's License (minimum 5000kg classification)
• Clean driving record with no major traffic violations
• At least 3 years commercial driving experience

• Expert knowledge of ALL 14 parishes and major delivery routes
• Proficient in driving standard/manual transmission vehicles
• Experience operating Isuzu trucks, Toyota Hiace, and similar vehicles

• Physical stamina for loading/unloading throughout the day
• Ability to sit and drive for extended periods

• Must provide TWO (2) verifiable recommendations from previous employers
• Valid police record (not older than 6 months)
