DEPUTY DIRECTOR of NURSING SERVICES (Falmouth Hospital)

The Western Regional Health Authority - Trelawny Health Services (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness) is currently seeking to employ a Deputy Director of Nursing Services for the Falmouth Hospital.

Deputy Director of Nursing Services (HPC/RN 4)

Falmouth Public General Hospital

Salary range: $5,863,044-$6,969,317 per annum

Reporting to the Director of Nursing Services, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services will be responsible for the supervision of Nurse Managers and takes responsibility for managing the nursing department and its services in the absence of the Director of Nursing Services.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

• Assist in establishing and maintaining high standards of nursing care to patients

• Supervise and coordinate activities of nursing personnel to maintain continuity of high quality nursing care

• Reassign staff as necessary to ensure the best possible nursing care

• Evaluate the performance of nursing personnel and make recommendations for improvement

• Supervise maintenance of personnel and nursing records

• Identify nursing problems and assist with investigations related to the improvement of nursing care

• Act in the absence of Matron

• Schedule duties for Nurse Managers to ensure coverage

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION and EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution

• Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica as Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife

• Successful completion of the certificate/ degree in Nursing Administration or Health Services Management

• A minimum of six (6) years’ related experience
