The Customs Clerk IlI (In house) is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective import and export of cargo by ensuring adherence to all processes, policies and procedures.
Job Summary
The Customs Clerk III (In house) is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective import and export of cargo by ensuring adherence to all processes, policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
To prepare and submit documents utilizing the ACE and Asycuda system ensuring the timely clearing/processing of cargo.
The clearance of import/export cargo in a timely manner, in order to prevent the payment of storage rent and demurrage, and to ensure the timely shipping of export cargo.
Proper processing of regulatory documents and records.
To provide the status of each shipment at any point in time.
Be able to interact with the following Regulatory bodies: Customs & Excise at all ports of call in Trinidad & Tobago and external Agencies such as TTBS, Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Trade, Toxic Board,Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards etc.
Lodge physical documents at Customs house/shipping agencies as needed.
To be present at the import/export of bonded as required.
To upload payment receipts to TT BizLink and ensure agency releases.
To work with team members to ensure the accurate and timely import/export of cargo.
Knowledge of Customs Laws & procedures in relation to Chapters 78:01 & 78:03 of the Constitution, regulations, and system training etc.
To assist with the clearance of LCL/FCL cargo.
To maintain relations with key stake-holders.
Ensure compliance with established HSSE and Housekeeping policies and procedures.
To perform any duties which are related but limited to the above as requested by Management.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 CXC passes-English Language compulsory
Grade III Customs Clerk License (REQUIRED)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar field.
Competent authority on Laws of T’dad & T’go Customs Act Chapter78:01 2007
Competent authority with the Explanatory notes to Harmonizzed Commodity Description and Coding System, 3rd Edition (2002)
Skills & Abilities
Complete confidentiality of all matters relating to the Division.
Accuracy in recording data/information.
Ability to prioritize daily tasks in order of urgency.
Initiative in the performance of daily job-related tasks.
Timeliness in the presentation of any data as requested by the Manager.
