JOB SUMMARY

The Customs Clerk Grade 2 is a role that supports customs operations, regulatory adherence, and logistics coordination, while providing technical guidance to the Customs Department that contribute to achieving strategic supply chain outcome. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the preparation and submission customs entries using systems such as ASYCUDA, including resolving queries.
  • Ensure accurate classification and calculation for the payment of duties and taxes, and validate customs declarations.
  • Advise on import/export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements, and classification of goods under the Common External Tariff (CET)
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to meet On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) requirements, including liaising with shipping agents, ground transport vendors, and warehouse teams.
  • Assist with data entry into container tracking systems and maintain visibility for all inbound and outbound shipments, enabling better planning and execution across logistics and warehouse operations.
  • Prepare documentation for customs-related charges and expenses, including demurrage and storage fees & maintain audit-ready records of customs transactions, stock movement, and financial documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with haulage companies, ground transport vendors, and port authorities to streamline container movements and reduce turnaround times.
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in customs and logistics workflows, and recommend actionable improvements to enhance OTIF performance and overall operational reliability.
  • Work closely with the Logistics, Warehouse, and Procurement teams to ensure customs processes support broader business goals, including inventory accuracy, delivery commitments, and customer satisfaction. 

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) CXC/GCE O-Level subjects, inclusive of Mathematics and English Language.
  • Valid Grade 2 Customs Clerk Licence issued by the Customs & Excise Division of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in customs clearance, import/export operations, or logistics coordination, preferably within a regulated or bonded environment.

 Must possess:

  • Must be deeply knowledgeable of the Customs and Excise laws of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Must be proficient in ASYCUDA and other related Supply Chain Systems
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
