JOB SUMMARY

Supports import and export operations by ensuring accurate documentation and smooth coordination with customs, shipping agents, and transport providers. Key responsibilities include preparing and verifying customs and shipping documents, checking cargo against invoices and entries, arranging export logistics, and maintaining organized records. 

  • Clear import/export cargo, to minimize the occurrence of rent and demurrage on shipment 
  • Check classification of goods to compute assessment of duty charges
  • Verify customs documents for export shipment, ensuring timely exportation of all shipments
  • Examine cargo to ensure that it corresponds with the relevant entries and invoices and that goods are in sound condition before they are dispatch.
  • Deliver completed documents to the bank, shipping agents, port and customs
  • Secure booking with shipping agents for all export requests and planned export orders  
  • Coordinate haulage services for export containers with external transport service providers and warehouse 
  • Prepare commercial invoices, export certificates, proforma bill of lading, customs invoices and airway bills, insurance certificates for export orders. 
  • Coordinate fumigation and plant quarantine services with Warehouse Supervisor and CSRs
  • Maintain physical and digital files to keep records organized, sytematized and transparent
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as and when necessary to build and nurture relationships
  • Partner with the inventory team on the cycle count exercise to validate that inventory on hand matches the inventory recorded in the system
  • Comply with and promote HR, HSE and any other policies, procedures, and standards to create an environment that is beneficial for all stakeholders
  • Perform any related duties as assigned by the department manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Possession of a Grade I Customs Clerk licence
  • Certification in Customs Procedures, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management 
  • Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business on another related field is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Customs programmes 
  • 2 years of relevant experience in logistics, customs brokerage, or export/import documentation preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
