Custodian - Facilities Maintenance Department

Job Summary

We are currently seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Custodian. The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, flexible and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as the need arises. The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all facilities, grounds and public area. May assist with general maintenance tasks and repairs. Core Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works as part of a team to carry out cleaning of the office facilities daily, ensuring all trash is emptied, all floors are cleaned and all surfaces, blinds and window sills dusted.
  • Cleans all glass doors and windows.
  • Keeps grounds areas clean from debris, and ensures all trash is properly picked up and disposed of.
  • Changes light bulbs and makes minor repairs within the facility as needed.
  • Stock and replenish cleaning supplies and sundries items.
  • Assist with setting up for meetings and events.
  • Performs general landscaping tasks, which may include power-washing exterior areas, raking, and other such tasks.
  • Assist Maintenance Technician with minor projects as needed.
  • Notify manager concerning the need for major repairs if needed and observed while cleaning.
  • Assist with set-up of meetings, classrooms, company event etc.
  • Perform all other duties as requested.

  • Hiring Requirements (Education, experience, certifications, etc.)
    • Previous experience in cleaning public buildings a plus
    • High school diploma
    • Positive attitude
    • Literate
    • Current Drivers License
    • Bahamian Citizenship

    Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
    • Ability to follow Instructions
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Skills in minor repairs
    • Knowledge of proper chemical handling a plus

    Physical Requirements
    • Able to work for long periods of time standing
    • Able to lift 50-75 pounds
    • Able to climb, bend, squat
    • Able to work outdoors
    • Able to work in inclement weather
