Our client seeks a dynamic and results-oriented professional with experience in credit evaluation and lending practices. The incumbent reports to the Credit Supervisor and will also be expected to extend financial counseling services to the members.

JOB OPPORTUNITY

Credit Officer

(Permanent Full-Time)

Sector: Financial Services

Location: St. Augustine

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 CSEC (CXC)/GCE O-level passes including Mathematics, Accounts and English Language
  • An Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Credit Union Management or Business Management Studies or related field
  • 2 years related work experience in a financial institution or organization

OR

  • A minimum of 5 CSEC (CXC)/GCE O-levels passes including Mathematics, Accounts and English Language
  • A combination of advanced qualifications AND 7-10 years related work experience and training in a financial institution or organization

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Strong analytical, modelling and financial reporting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve loan applications within established limits
  • Interview clients and review their supporting documents & collateral information to determine eligibility of their loan request based on the organization’s loan policy
  • Review clients’ supporting documentation to ensure FIU compliance
  • Draft Instruments of Charge (IOC) in respect of loans, where applicable, for review by the Credit Supervisor
  • Obtain and verify credit reports from Trans Union as required
  • Prepare and submit loan applications for final approval by the Credit Committee before disbursement of funds where applicable
  • Prepare standing orders and other correspondence as needed
  • Provide financial counseling to clients as needed
  • Monitor all clients’ transactions for suspicious activities
