Are you an experienced and analytical financial professional with a knack for risk assessment and a passion for helping customers achieve their goals? We're looking for a Credit Manager to join our dynamic team at Unicomer (Barbados) Ltd.

In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective management of our daily credit operations and contributing to the financial health of our business. The ideal candidate will drive protability in all aspects of the credit process, including underwriting and arrears management, ensuring compliance with Company policy and departmental KPIs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Identify emerging risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to leadership for growing the portfolio.

• Review and analyze credit applications and nancial data to determine creditworthiness. Approve applications in line with company policies, risk parameters, and your delegated lending authority.

• Monitor and analyze the performance of the Call Centre, Bailiff, and Legal teams, to ensure they achieve their targets.

• Achieve sales targets within agreed turn-around time (TAT) while maintaining portfolio quality.

• Collaborate closely with Sales and Internal Control teams to drive responsible growth, reviewing audit reports and ensuring strict adherence to the credit process at both the Branch and Department levels, implementing corrective actions as necessary.

• Provide regular reports to senior management on credit portfolio performance and key metrics, contributing to strategic decision making. 

• Manage the team, overseeing their daily work assignments, reviewing and approving their output, and conducting regular performance management. This includes identifying opportunities for employee development and, when necessary, administering disciplinary action. 

• Lead monthly departmental meetings and weekly meetings with direct reports.

• Ensure all staff comply with company policies and relevant regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related discipline.

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in credit management, preferably within a retail or financial services environment dealing with hire purchase and/or consumer loans.

• Experience in credit bureaus

• Must be organized, persistent, and committed.

• Proficiency in credit management software and Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.

• Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage and prioritize a demanding workload. Must be able to work under minimal supervision, meet deadlines, and respond to concerns on short notice.
