The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Jamaica) seeks to identify two (2) suitable female candidates to fill the following post: 
   
Counsellor
 
Description:  
 
The Counsellor is responsible for providing counselling to students, faculty and staff members on career and personal matters, by coordinating information, developing innovative approaches to problems, and administering and interpreting standardized tests.  She is also responsible for the social and educational needs of the students, as well as focusing on policies and procedures to promote changes in attitudes, skills, behaviour and awareness in the wider University community.
 
Requirements:  
 
The preferred applicant should possess:  
  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling, or other relevant discipline, with specialization in Counselling
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a similar position, ideally in a higher education institution
Requirements:  
  
The applicants should also have: 
  • Sound knowledge of the University of Technology, Jamaica Act, 1999, Policies, Procedures, Rules, Regulations and Ordinances.

  • Knowledge and experience in individual and group counselling.
  • Knowledge of case management.

  • Knowledge and experience in professional consultation and promotion of services.

    Knowledge and experience of psychological test administration, scoring and interpretation.
  • Knowledge of academic and student services policies, procedures of the University.

  • Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to clients’ rights
