Cost and Management Accountant

Main Purpose of Job:

The Cost and Management Accountant will play a critical role in providing accurate financial information, review and analyses to relevant stakeholders to enable the Group to make more informed decision making in alignment with its strategic objectives. The incumbent will engage in financial research by updating job knowledge, keeping current with financial regulations and accepted practices; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and continuing education requirements as needed to effectively perform the role.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with month end close activities including preparation of journals, reconciliations, and monthly review of Angostura Ltd accounts and completing necessary reallocations.
  • Prepare monthly AL/TDL Duty reconciliation, plan and actual cost centre and profitability analyses assessment cycles, calculation of Duty by Brand and Vat on promotional items.
  • Assists with analyzing and preparing financial data and statements including profit and loss accounts, cash flows, monthly variance analyses for Revenue, Cost of Goods sold, Administrative, Selling and Marketing expenses and commentaries.
  • Prepares monthly and historical profitability reporting by business segment including retail.
  • Responsible for preparation of Monthly Capital expenditure report to Management.
  • Reviews monthly reconciliation of prices across various systems and ensures updates of Market A&P on extranet.
  • Assists with coordinating with all departments in the preparation of annual budget for review and approval as well as subsequent upload into information system. 
  • Ensure effective management of the capital expenditure process by ensuring use of internal orders to manage Capital expenditure purchases according to approved budgets/reallocations and approvals as per DOA and policies.
  • Provides analytical support to the operations, commercial and marketing teams on ongoing performance against plans, Capex forecasting, feasibility analyses for purchasing of assets, production and operational changes, pricing, and sales promotions review.
  • Assists with the preparation of Latest Estimates.
  • Assists with preparation and publishing of Business Intelligence (BI) reports monthly and assists with the automation/standardization of reporting within Finance and other related areas.
  • Ensures that the master data for all cost and profit centre, cost elements and internal order structures are updated to facilitate more enhanced department review, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ensures completion and reviews quarterly and annual surveys to CSO and Central Bank.
  • Assists with training and assessing the needs of all management, key team members and new staff in cost centre and internal order reporting to be able to effectively manage their expenditure and Capex budgets.
  • As part of a dynamic finance team, the Cost and Management Accountant will prepare for and assist with internal and external audits, recommendation and partake of training for self and staff members and partake in overall system improvement projects and ensure these are completed by the required deadlines.
  •  Ensures adherence to policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory compliance.
  • Other duties relating to the function as required to support the Finance Business partner Operations, Finance Department, other cross functional areas, Management and Executives.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting, Marketing, or related field.
  • Possession of ACCA, CIMA or a Master’s degree will be considered an asset.
  • 5 plus years of experience working in the FMCG sector.
  • 3-5 plus years of experience working in a similar SAP environment.
  • Experience in Power BI or other data analysis software/tools will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in Cost Accounting will be considered an asset.

 

Required knowledge/skills/abilities: Cost and Management Accountant must possess sound financial background with strong analytical and communication skills. Some of the more common skills and attributes that are most needed for this role include:

  • Strong analytical background.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial modelling and business architecture.
  • Ability to effectively communicate accounting concepts to non-finance staff
  • High level of commercial acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships.
  • Good organisational and administration skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel, power point, word and other analytical tools.
