Cost Accountant

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing production costs, maintaining accurate product costing, supporting budgeting processes, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.

Job Summary

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing production costs, maintaining accurate product costing, supporting budgeting processes, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction. This role is crucial to improving profitability and ensuring cost control throughout the manufacturing cycle.

Key Functions:

• Develop and maintain standard costs for all products including burgers, ham, bacon, sausages, smoked and pickled meats and fish.
• Analyse  actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Conduct variance analysis (labour, materials, overhead) and report findings to management.
• Collaborate with production and procurement teams to ensure accurate costing of raw materials and packaging.
• Monitor inventory levels and perform inventory reconciliation, including analysis of spoilage, shrinkage, and waste.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
• Support pricing decisions through product margin analysis.
• Participate in the development and implementation of cost control measures.
• Maintain and improve costing systems and ensure compliance with accounting policies and standards.
• Any other duties as required.

Minimum Requirement & Competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional certificate (e.g. ACCA, CMA, CPA) is an advantage.
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in cost accounting, preferably in a   manufacturing or food production industry.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory management.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUP).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in using manufacturing software and tools (e.g., ERP systems).
