Core Functions
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Process and (where applicable) recommend business loan applications within the Corporate segment for NCBJ. In addition, responsible for underwriting credits on behalf of NCBCM to facilitate the issuance of IPOs.
• The officer will also be responsible for underwriting a designated portfolio of business credits handled by the other NCB Subsidiaries (NCBCM, NCB Merchant Bank, NCB Cayman and Clarien).
• Determine the credit worthiness of Corporate (NCBJ and subsidiaries) & NCBCM customers by undertaking appropriate levels of analysis of their financial history, status, and prospects as stipulated by NCB’s policy guidelines, including the use of credit-scoring tools where applicable.
• Review Financial Statements and other records in order to develop an understanding of the Borrower’s financial health and risks associated with the potential loan.
• Reviews and verifies relevant business financial records such as Historical and Projected Financial Statements in order to develop an understanding of the financial health of the borrower and the risk associated with the potential loan.
• Liaises with external agents to get information such as industry trends etc. in informing our decisions.
• Writes credit proposals with a view to making recommendations to relevant approval authorities where total facilities exceed internal discretionary limits or exceptions occur that have been/will be satisfactorily mitigated.
• Contributes to the maintenance of an acceptable quality Corporate (NCBJ and Subsidiaries) & NCBCM credit portfolio and ensures that the Bank’s risk profile is appropriately mitigated.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk.
• Manage all phases of the activities related to the loan portfolio.
• Conduct annual reviews of assigned portfolio exposure of up to approximately 30 Corporate (NCBJ and subsidiaries) & NCBCM accounts on or before due dates.
Qualifications & Experience
• Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics Business Management, Business Administration, Banking/Finance or Accounting
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a financial institution to include three (3) years’ experience as a Corporate Credit Underwriter.
