JOB TITLE:                          CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR

JOB DESCRIPTION:          The Construction Supervisor is responsible for carrying out detailed Civil Engineering/Building scope of works and evaluating tasks completed to guarantee quality assurance. These include but are not limited to: Storm water inclusive of drains (u-drains and box culvert), kerbs, channels and HDPE; Sewer inclusive of manholes, pipelines, inlets, laterals; Water inclusive of pipelines, laterals, all valves, fire hydrant; Roadways inclusive of sub-base, base and asphalt, walkways and sidewalks, ensure building formwork is square and level, ensure structural members are install in accordance with design, all building scope are executed in accordance with the design etc.

POSITION STATUS:           Fixed Term Contract

DIRECTLY REPORT:        Project Engineer / Project Manager (Indirectly)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure works are executed as specified in the civil design and collects required field data for future reference.
  • Attention to detailed for finishing on the buildings.
  • Check surveyors setting out markers to ensure they conform to design.
  • Complete and approve check list for each task.
  • Makes recommendation for improvement if deemed necessary and request a change order if said recommendation is accepted by management.
  • Check all infrastructure scope of works to ensure quality is maintained.
  • Notify senior management regarding any delays and ensure scopes are implemented within the schedule baseline.
  • Make housekeeping a top priority.
  • Ensure safety rules and guidelines are adhered to and report any incident that may occur on site.
  • Supervise and document time for all equipment.
  • Document and request approvals for any deviation.
  • Calculate scope and materials needed (eg. Volume of concrete for a pour).
  • Liaise with sub-contractors and equipment operators.
  • Supervise WIHCON’s labourers relating to specified in house works.

 QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • The ability to communicate effectively.
  • Functional knowledge of Civil Engineering practices and construction methodologies required for building component consistent with design and drawings.
  • Strong work ethics, organized, excellent leadership.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge industry practices, procedures and players.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Projects, PowerPoint etc.), Project Management tools (MS Projects, AutoCAD, etc.).

 EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Certification in General Construction or Civil Engineering
  • Three (3) years’ experience in supervising civil works
  • Introductory level supervisory training
