Compliance Officer

We are looking for an experienced Compliance Officer responsible for managing all aspects of compliance, ensuring that there is full compliance with established laws, regulations, policies and procedures among the various business units within the Group.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five (5) five years’ experience as an Attorney-at-Law in the financial services industry or progressive experience in audit and/or risk management or compliance
  • LLB, Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management or Management Studies, or any equivalent qualification

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:               

  • Strong working knowledge with understanding and interpreting legislation
  • Knowledge of the Regulations and Acts governing the Financial Services industry
  • Knowledge of the various regulations governing AMLA/CFT/CPF
  • Good analytical skills and ability to communicate well both orally and written
  • High level of human relations and time management Skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to take the initiative on multiple matters
  • Accept personal responsibility for work, ensuring a variety of deadlines are met
  • Highly proficient in the MS Office Suite
  • Facilitate the identification and mitigation of enterprise risk
  • Strong understanding of the use of information technology and the operations environment in financial institutions
  • Ability to develop policy and procedure documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as liaison between the Company and regulatory law enforcement agencies with respect to compliance matters and investigations
  • Ensure the company is compliant with the Anti-Money Laundering & Proceeds of Crime Act
  • Ensure compliance policy documents meet regulatory requirements
  • Advise the Board and Management team on any regulatory changes that may impact the company
  • Keep abreast of new requirements as prescribed by the regulator
  • Ensure continuous education and development in the area of compliance and Anti-Money Laundering
  • Prepare and update policies and procedures and disseminate information to company’s personnel
  • Ensure staff are trained, at least annually, on AML/CFT/CPF.
  • Assist business units in implementation of compliance programme
  • Establish and publicize a reporting system whereby other employees and agents can report criminal conduct by others within the company without fear of retribution
  • Coordinate with company’s audit and legal departments on AML/CFT matters and
  • investigations
  • Maintain reasonable access to other information that may be of assistance in considering the reports
  • Evaluate reports of suspicious/unusual transactions by staff and filing such reports with the Designated Authority
  • File Threshold Transaction Reports and Suspicious Transaction Reports to the Designated Authority
  • Prepare reports as required to Senior Management, the Board of Directors and Regulatory/Supervisory Authorities
  • Develop and revise the compliance matrices, programmes and policies to reflect changes in the organization’s needs, laws, regulations, and procedures related to compliance issues, at least annually, or as required.
  • Monitor and test, on an ongoing basis, the effectiveness of the compliance programmes and the taking of the required corrective actions when and where required
  • Ensure the completion and timely submission of all regulatory reports to the responsible bodies within the respective territories
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of a risk assessment framework in each business to include the conduct of an annual AML/CFT/CPF enterprise risk assessment
