CORE seeks a Community Mobilizer to support the Hurricane Melissa response in Jamaica, connecting affected households to shelter and debris programming through outreach, registration, and community engagement.

The Community Mobilizer will support CORE’s Hurricane Melissa response by engaging directly with affected communities to facilitate outreach, registration, and participation in both shelter and debris recovery programming. This role is community-facing and does not require specialized technical expertise. Community Mobilizers will serve as a key link between households and CORE field teams, helping ensure activities are accessible, well-communicated, and responsive to community needs.
CORE anticipates hiring approximately eight (8) Community Mobilizers to support this work across multiple communities.
This role is based in St. Elizabeth Monday - Friday. Relocation costs not covered.
This role is grant-funded and provides full-time temporary employment through the end of June 2026.
Main Responsibilities
1. Community Outreach & Engagement
Conduct door-to-door and community-based outreach in hurricane-affected areas.
Engage respectfully with households to build trust and explain CORE programs.
Support community meetings, information sessions, and outreach events.
2. Registration & Data Collection
Register households and individuals for shelter and debris programs.
Ensure accurate completion of forms and adherence to registration processes.
Collect basic monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) data, including attendance and feedback.
3. Program Support (Shelter & Debris)
Support implementation of shelter and debris programming at the community level.
Assist with event setup, participant flow, and on-site coordination.
Help ensure communities understand program timelines, eligibility, and next steps.
Assist and lead in providing basic trainings around safety and program services
4. Community Feedback & Accountability
Gather community questions, concerns, and feedback.
Flag issues, protection concerns, or access barriers to supervisors.
Support accountability to affected populations through transparent communication.
5. Coordination & Teamwork
Coordinate with other Community Mobilizers and CORE field staff.
Share field observations and updates with supervisors.
Follow standardized procedures and contribute to consistent outreach across communities
Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to drive as required.
Must work out of program office in Santa Cruz 9am-5pm, Mon – Fri, with possible work in the evenings and weekends in response to emergency and program needs
Occasional travel to Kingston may be required.
