Commercial Manager – Retail & Hardware

Berger Paints Jamaica Limited is seeking to recruit a Commercial Manager – Retail & Hardware, to drive strategic growth across key distribution channels. This senior leadership role is responsible for delivering revenue expansion, strengthening market presence, and optimizing performance across retail outlets, hardware stores, and dealer networks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute channel-specific sales strategies to drive revenue growth across retail and hardware segments
  • Identify and expand distribution networks, including hardware stores, dealers, and retail partners
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail chains, independent hardware operators, and distributors
  • Lead, coach, and performance-manage the sales team to achieve channel targets and KPIs
  • Analyse market trends, customer behaviour, and competitor activity within the retail and construction sectors
  • Collaborate with marketing and supply chain teams to ensure product availability, pricing competitiveness, and promotional effectiveness
  • Develop and manage sales forecasts, budgets, and channel performance metrics
  • Oversee trade marketing initiatives, including promotions, activations, and retail campaigns
  • Monitor sales performance by channel and implement data-driven corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO standards, OSHA requirements, and group guidelines
  • Prepare regular reports, forecasts, and strategic updates for senior leadership
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Marketing, or a related field
  • MBA or postgraduate qualification is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales/marketing, with at least 3 years in retail, hardware, or construction-related industries
  • Proven track record in channel management, sales leadership, and revenue growth
  • Experience in construction materials, or FMCG distribution channels is highly desirable
Key Competencies & Skills
  • Strong leadership with the ability to manage multi-channel sales teams
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills, particularly with retail buyers and hardware operators
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate market insights into sales execution
  • Customer-focused with a deep understanding of retail and trade dynamics
  • Strong analytical, planning, and decision-making skills
  • High level of professionalism, adaptability, and results orientation
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft D365) and reporting tools such as Power BI
