Roberts Manufacturing Co. Limited (RMCO) located in Barbados, produces shortening, margarine and cooking oil products which are sold across the Caribbean. RMCO is seeking to recruit a Commercial Manager to drive the sales and marketing strategies of the company, locally and regionally.
Reporting to the Managing Director, this Senior Executive will have primary responsibility for:
• Leading the sales, marketing, retail and customer service teams in Barbados to maximise revenue and profitability.
• Developing and managing the sales and marketing budget and strategies with the sales and marketing teams, for the local and overseas markets and ensuring agreed initiatives are implemented.
• Communicating regularly and visiting with local and export sales and distribution agents and customers, overseeing orders to ensure timely delivery and minimal back-orders.
• Ensuring that the Sales team monitors the local agents' warehouse stock to uphold product quality standards and rotation practices.
• Working closely with the Finance department to periodically review pricing structures, ensuring competitiveness in the market while maximising profit margins.
• Overseeing the retail operation, including inventory management, merchandising, and sales promotions, to optimize retail performance.
• Gathering and presenting performance metrics spanning various markets and product lines, with the aim of guiding decision-making to exceed sales targets.
• Collaborating closely with Procurement, Production, Warehousing, Quality, and Finance to foster synergies that support the achievement of the company’s objectives.
Educational Requirements and Experience
• An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related discipline.
• A minimum of five years’ experience operating in a similar role, preferably in a food and beverage manufacturing environment. Regional experience in the sales and marketing of exports is highly desirable.
• Experience in developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies including brand development and campaigns.
• Strategic and analytical thinker with high numeracy skills.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and motivate cross-functional teams.
• Change agile, proactive and driven to achieve results.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, suppliers, partners and distributors.
• Flexibility to travel within and outside of the Caribbean.
