THIS POSITION IS OPEN ONLY TO NATIONALS OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO AND THOSE HOLDING VALID AUTHORIZATION TO WORK IN THE COUNTRY. MUST BE LIVING IN THE COUNTRY AT THE PRESENT TIME.

 

Our client, a Financial Institute, located in PORT OF SPAIN is seeking to fill the position of a TEMPORARY Commercial Credit Underwriter

 

Salary range: $10,000.00 

Duration: 6 months

 

 

DESCRIPTION

 

▪       Responsible for underwriting commercial type loans and preparing presentations

 

▪       Utilizes provided software/excel to score credit applications as well as create customer profile and security analysis

▪       Compile all Compliance documents

▪       Performs annual reviews

▪       Provides support for business developers on new customers

 

▪       Undertakes the analysis, evaluation, and underwriting of proposed credit facilities for customers and prospects

▪       Attend customer meetings

 

▪       Assesses credit opportunities; identifies key risks, and structures alternatives working in a team environment

▪       Responsible for preparing in-depth credit packages

▪       Responsible for conducting research on borrowers and industries

 

▪       Takes ownership of the credit process, making decisions in the best interest of the customer and organization

▪       Provides support to account officers if needed

 

▪       Responsible for measuring covenants put in place within loan agreements, with a clear understanding of the effect and purpose of those loan covenants, and communicates the compliance of the borrowers to the Manager Credit and Assistant Manager Credit as needed

 

▪       Completes annual reviews, modifications, extensions, renewals, and new loan requests for customers with minimal required changes from the credit approvers

▪       Analyzes more complex credits with assistance from Manager Credit

 

▪       Applies experience with comparable credits to recommend appropriate covenants, terms, and conditions, and structure for a credit request

▪       Identifies policy exceptions within a credit request

▪       Prepares disbursements to clients

▪       Reporting

▪       Portfolio Management/client management

 

▪       Discusses risk ratings and the rationale for the determination of acceptable credits with the compliance officer, Manager Credit and credit approvers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Knowledge of financial statement analysis, general accounting, cash flows and various loan calculations.

 

  • Highly analytical thinking with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes.

 

  • Results-driven achiever with exemplary planning and organizational skills, along with a high degree of detail orientation.

 

  • Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing.

 

  • Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with clients and colleagues

 

  • Applicable knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (familiarity with a loan servicing software a plus).

 

Education/Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration preferred;

 

  • Minimum 5 years of operating business/commercial lending experience required
