The Collections Officer will be responsible for the timely recovery of outstanding debts from assigned retailers.

Supreme Ventures Services Limited, a subsidiary of Supreme Ventures Limited is looking for Collections Officers on a contract basis in the first instance, with a view to becoming a permanent employee. 

The Collections Officer will  be assigned to work closely with a Business Development Officer (BDO) to manage the assigned retail accounts. He/she will be responsible for contacting retailers with overdue accounts, negotiating payment arrangements, documenting interactions, reconciling statements with retailers, and addressing discrepancies.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Collections: Initiate and manage collections efforts for a designated set of retailer accounts, including contacting retailers, negotiating repayment plans, and reconciling statements with retailers.
  2. Account Evaluation: Assess the creditworthiness and payment history of retailers, making recommendations to the Group Collections Manager regarding account termination or suppression, if necessary.
  3. Communication: Collaborate closely with the assigned Business Development Officer to establish and maintain open lines of communication with retailers, ensuring that payment and collections discussions align with the business relationship and maintaining accurate records of communications.
  4. Reporting: Provide regular updates on the status of collections efforts and outstanding balances to the Group Collections Manager and the assigned Business Development Officer.
  5. Customer Service: Respond promptly and professionally to retailer inquiries and concerns related to outstanding debts, fostering positive relationships and customer satisfaction.
  6. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all collections activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Previous experience in collections or a similar role is advantageous.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of collection software and tools is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of financial and credit principles.
