CHRISTEL HOUSE JAMAICA is a school in the Christel House International global network. Opened in 2020, Christel House Jamaica currently serves 477 Kindergarten through 7thgrade students. The school will grow by adding a grade each year.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO: Christel House Jamaica seeks a Classroom Teacher to provide high-quality instruction, support, and leadership aimed at achieving excellent outcomes for students in the Upper Primary School. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of the Primary School Curriculum and will play a key role in fostering a schoolwide culture of critical and creative thinking.

  • Must be considerate, sympathetic, non-judgmental, and can comfort the students.

MAIN DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Teaching all areas of the primary curriculum
  • Taking responsibility for the progress of a class of primary-age pupils
  • Organising the classroom and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment.
  • Planning, preparing and presenting lessons that cater to the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
  • Monitor play time and play area.
  • Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentations
  • Maintaining student discipline
  • Preparing and marking students' work to facilitate positive pupil development.
  • Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils' development.
  • Providing feedback to parents on a pupil's progress at PTA and other meetings or when requested.
  • Coordinating activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum and supporting colleagues in the delivery of their specialist areas.
  • Positively promote the Christel House model.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement and obtain information from parents when requested.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and curriculum consultants for the design and implementation of units and lessons.
  • Working with others to plan and coordinate work.
  • Use the relevant technology to support and differentiate instructions.
  • Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Organising and taking part in school events, outings, and activities.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social, sporting, clubs, student organisations, etc.
  • All other related duties assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BSc. Primary Education, Education, or related certification.
  • Diploma in Teaching
  • A minimum of one (1) year of related work experience
