Claims Officer

The incumbent will undertake and supervise general administrative work in relation to all insurance claims and ensure that a complete and accurate evaluation is done of all matters.

Reporting to the Senior Operations Officer – Claims & Underwriting, the incumbent is responsible to undertake the supervision of the handling and processing of allocated motor and property claims, ensuring that speedy settlement arrangements are maintained, in accordance with the company’s standards.

The incumbent will also undertake and supervise general administrative work in relation to all insurance claims and ensure that a complete and accurate evaluation is done of all matters.

The position is based in Kingston. Our ideal candidate is a dynamic and organized individual, with strong communication skills and a positive attitude. At minimum, applicants should possess the following:

• First Degree in Business Management, law or related field or pursuing or attained ACII
• At least five (5) years’ experience in General Insurance environment
• Diploma or Certification in Insurance would be an asset
• In-depth knowledge of Claims Management
• Strong knowledge of Underwriting practices and principles
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities and techniques
• Excellent time management and the ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
• Sound negotiating and decision-making skills
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
• Ability to work as part of a team or individually
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite [EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint etc.]
• Knowledge of 4D Underwriter
