Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Role Summary

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a strategic enterprise leader responsible for driving operational transformation, modernization, and long-term scalability across the organization. As a key partner to the CEO/Managing Director and a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, the COO will lead enterprise-wide operational performance, digital advancement, infrastructure optimization, and risk governance. In addition to responsibility and accountability for operational excellence, the COO is also accountable for cost structure optimization, capital discipline, technology integration, asset reliability, and measurable performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to corporate strategy, long-term planning, and growth initiatives.
  • Translate corporate strategy into an integrated operational roadmap aligned with modernization, scalability, and competitive positioning.
  • Lead enterprise-wide operational transformation initiatives, embedding a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive digital modernization, automation, and technology-enabled performance improvements.
  • Provide board-level reporting and operational performance insights as required.
  • Establish and enforce a zero-harm safety culture and enterprise-wide HSSE governance framework.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, operational risk mitigation, and business continuity planning.
  • Lead the development of a fully integrated Asset Care Management System, incorporating predictive and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Strengthen plant reliability, asset integrity, and infrastructure resilience.
  • Lead major capital projects, modernization programs, and infrastructure upgrades — ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Optimize ERP system performance, data integrity, system integration, and enterprise visibility.
  • Lead IT strategy, digital infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity governance, and AI-enabled operational initiatives.
  • Standardize operational policies, controls, performance dashboards, and KPI governance frameworks.
  • Drive operational cost optimization, waste reduction, productivity enhancement, and margin improvement initiatives.
  • Strengthen cross-functional collaboration between Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Supply Chain, Projects, IT, and HSSE.
  • Execute a structured transition plan to assume full executive oversight of Production and Supply Chain functions.
  • Strengthen manufacturing efficiency, asset utilization, and operational throughput.
  • Improve inventory management, procurement governance, vendor performance, and working capital optimization.
  • Enhance supply chain resilience and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Align end-to-end operational flow from procurement through production to distribution.
  • Own the operational cost structure and drive EBITDA improvement.
  • Govern capital allocation and ensure disciplined return-on-investment analysis.
  • Improve productivity metrics, cost per unit, and asset utilization rates.
  • Establish enterprise performance dashboards with clear accountability structures.
  • Drive working capital optimization through inventory and process efficiencies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing operational leadership teams.
  • Implement structured succession planning and capability-building programs.
  • Lead enterprise change initiatives in unionized and industrial environments where applicable.
  • Build a performance-driven culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and measurable results.
  • Strengthen leadership alignment across departments to ensure strategic cohesion.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Management, Business, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10–15+ years of senior operational leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial, or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale operational transformation and modernization initiatives.
  • Proven track record of improving safety performance, asset reliability, cost efficiency, and operational margins.
  • Strong experience overseeing Engineering, Maintenance, HSSE, IT/ERP, and capital project governance.
  • Experience leading Production and/or Supply Chain functions preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen, capital planning capability, and performance governance experience.
  • Executive presence with ability to engage Board and senior stakeholders.
