About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Group CEO (CEO), the COO will serve as a key strategic partner and enterprise leader, responsible for driving operational excellence, aligning business functions, and ensuring the successful execution of the Group’s strategic priorities. The role is intentionally positioned within the JSE’s leadership succession framework, offering broad exposure across the organization.
About the Role
You will operate at the heart of the organization—connecting strategy to results and ensuring that the JSE Group performs at the highest level. Key areas of impact include:
Enterprise Leadership & Strategy Execution
- Partner with the CEO to translate strategic priorities into measurable outcomes across the Group
- Drive alignment and coordination across business units and subsidiaries
- Lead enterprise-wide execution of transformation and growth initiatives
Market Operations & Infrastructure
- Oversee market operations and trading activities, ensuring efficiency, integrity, and regulatory compliance
- Strengthen operational resilience and the performance of trading systems and infrastructure
Business Growth & Innovation
- Lead business development, including new products, partnerships, and revenue streams
- Support expansion into regional and international markets
- Champion innovation and digital transformation across the Group
Market Development & Education
- Provide strategic oversight of the JSE e-Campus, advancing financial education and market participation
- Position the JSE as a regional leader in capital markets education and thought leadership
Brand, Stakeholder Engagement & Market Positioning
- Oversee Marketing & Communications to enhance the JSE’s brand locally and globally
- Engage key stakeholders including regulators, market participants, investors, and partners
Operational Excellence & Integration
- Improve efficiency, systems integration, and cross-functional collaboration
- Drive performance management and accountability across teams
Your Leadership Scope will include direct oversight for:
- JSE e-Campus
- Group Business Development
- Market Operations & Trading
- Group Marketing & Communications
You will also work in close partnership with peer executives leading Finance & Administration, Jamaica Central Securities Depository (JCSD) and JCSD Trust Services Limited and act in the absence of the CEO from time to time.
Together, you will ensure enterprise-wide alignment, performance, and impact.
About the Person
We are seeking a forward-thinking, execution-driven leader who is energized by complexity, innovation, and the opportunity to build.
Experience
- 12–15+ years in financial services, capital markets, or investments
- 7–10+ years in senior executive leadership roles
- Proven success in strategy execution, operational transformation, and business growth
- Experience in regulated environments and complex, multi-entity organizations
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MBA, Finance, Economics or related field)
- Professional certifications such as CFA, ACCA, CPA, FRM are preferred
Knowledge & Expertise, Leaership & Competencies
- Deep understanding of capital markets and financial systems
- Strong commercial acumen and operational leadership
- Ability to lead across functions and influence at the highest levels
- A balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution
- High emotional intelligence, resilience, and leadership maturity
