This is a permanent role, based in Port-of-Spain.
JOB SUMMARY
The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is responsible for developing and executing the company’s strategic marketing, brand positioning, communications, and stakeholder engagement strategy. The role ensures alignment between brand messaging, customer engagement, and public perception to enhance brand trust, reputation, and long-term market relevance.
The CMO leads all facets of marketing - including strategic and brand marketing, corporate communications, public relations, media relations, corporate events, and CSR initiatives - to support business growth, enhance stakeholder relationships, and protect the organisation’s reputation in a highly dynamic telecommunications market.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Brand Leadership
- Develop and execute the company’s brand strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, customer needs, and market trends.
- Ensure brand coherence across all communication channels and stakeholder touchpoints.
- Lead strategic marketing planning, campaign development, and go-to-market strategies to support customer acquisition and retention.
Corporate Communications, Media, and PR
- Oversee the design and execution of the organisation’s corporate communication strategy, including internal communications, media relations, and executive messaging.
- Serve as spokesperson where appropriate and ensure proactive management of the organisation’s media presence.
- Direct the company’s public relations, crisis communication, and reputation management efforts.
Reputation and Brand Trust Management
- Build and maintain trust in the organisation’s brands through transparent, values-driven storytelling and purposeful communication.
- Monitor and manage brand sentiment and reputation risk.
- Lead the execution of thought leadership strategies to reinforce the company’s industry presence.
CSR and Corporate Events
- Oversee planning and execution of corporate events, ensuring they support brand strategy and stakeholder engagement.
- Direct the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, aligning them with strategic community impact goals and brand values.
Digital Marketing and Innovation
- Champion the integration of digital marketing strategies, content development, and performance analytics.
- Promote marketing innovation, including data-driven decision-making, AI integration, and digital customer engagement initiatives.
Organizational Leadership
- Lead the development of the marketing and communications structure, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and scalability.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor high-performing marketing and communication professionals.
- Oversee marketing budget allocation, optimisation, and return on investment tracking.
- Workplace Safety – Ensure that all work is done in accordance with established safety practices and procedures.
- Perform other related duties required by job function, as directed by the manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communication or a related discipline.
- Training or certification in Advertising, Brand Strategy, Digital Marketing, or Corporate Communications is considered an asset.
- Solid grounding in market research, analytics, and strategic planning, with the ability to translate insights into actionable brand and marketing strategies.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, brand management, or communications.
- Equivalent combinations of academic qualifications and executive-level marketing experience will be considered.
- Proven ability to develop and execute integrated, end-to-end marketing strategies that drive growth and market leadership across digital, traditional, sponsorship, and event channels.
- Demonstrated expertise in brand portfolio management, positioning, and equity building, supported by advanced customer engagement and consumer insights strategies.
- Strong track record in advertising strategy and investment management, delivering measurable impact and cost efficiencies on multi-million-dollar budgets.
- Deep experience in media relations, corporate reputation management, and crisis communications, ensuring consistent brand voice and stakeholder confidence in dynamic, customer-facing industries, preferably telecommunications or technology.
