Job Purpose
Provide strategic legal counsel to the BPWCCUL Group and lead the Legal, Securities, and Corporate Secretarial functions. Ensure strong governance, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and alignment with the Group’s long-term strategy.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Legal Advisory & Governance
- Provide legal advice and documentation support to the Group, including the Board, Committees, Management, and Staff.
- Interpret laws and regulations relevant to Group operations.
- Manage litigation, external legal services, and delinquent loan recoveries.
- Review and approve all legal documents executed on behalf of the Group.
- Monitor legislative changes that may impact the organization.
- Ensure compliance for all existing and proposed products.
Corporate Secretarial & Compliance
- Oversee corporate secretarial services for the Group and its subsidiaries.
- Maintain the central repository for legal and security documents.
- Ensure effective systems for governance, document custody, and regulatory compliance.
Leadership & Department Management
- Develop and implement departmental strategies aligned with Group goals.
- Manage departmental budgets, performance, reporting, and resource allocation.
- Guide and develop team members through training, coaching, and performance management.
- Establish and monitor service standards, income targets, and operational metrics.
Trust, Estate & Related Services
- Provide expertise in estate administration, wills, and trust services.
Cross-Functional Support
- Collaborate with Human Resources on employment-related legal matters.
- Support business units with legal guidance as required.
Other
- Conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, and perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master of Laws (LLM) plus Certificate of Legal Education with 7+ years corporate legal experience; OR
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) plus Certificate of Legal Education with 10+ years corporate legal experience.
- Chartered Corporate Secretary designation required.
