JOB PURPOSE
The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership to all of TSTT’s Business Units and subsidiaries through the development and execution of Strategic Financial Targets, Financial and Budgetary Regulatory Systems and Controls, and Corporate Analytical Support that ensures key stakeholders are satisfied and organisational performance and reputation are focused on long -term organisational sustainability.
The role also oversees business intelligence and enterprise risk management frameworks that enhance decision-making, safeguard assets, and ensure organisational performance and reputation are aligned with long-term sustainability and stakeholder value.
The Chief Financial Officer is to continuously improve the strategic and operational effectiveness and efficiency of the financial services offered to the various Business Units.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Optimising shareholder return on investment by:
- Develop and critically review a framework for gathering information on capital expenditure.
- Enable the development and execution of the Capital Expenditure Plans.
- Aligning the Capital Expenditure Plans with the Strategic Plan.
- Oversee the preparation and evaluation of quarterly and annual financial statements providing stakeholders with comprehensive results and analyses of variances.
- Analyse reports on projected revenue, expenses, and profit and asset value against actual figures and recommend relevant methods of improving the performance of the Company.
- Expedite continuous comprehensive proactive assessment of all elements of strategic risk/vulnerability and the formulation of relevant risk mitigation/management plans.
- Support the maximisation of the profitability of the assets of the Company.
Furthering the achievement of Annual Financial targets by:
- Develop and direct the Financial Annual Operating Planning process to support the Company’s strategic business plan, growth and market opportunities.
- Direct and oversee all the financial activities of the Company including preparation of current financial reports as well as summaries and forecasts for future business growth and general economic outlook.
- Provide the Board and Management with sound and proactive financial and budgetary analysis and advice
- Ensure the management of all costs within budgetary limits
Internal Business Processes established by:
- Lead the critical review and re-engineering of the Division’s internal business processes to optimise efficiency, productivity, cost-effectiveness, innovativeness and process integrity.
- Develop and execute a system of continuous review of internal business process efficacy.
Risk Management:
- Develop and maintain risk framework and register (strategic, financial, operational, cyber, market)
- Set risk appetite, metrics, and controls with Board and Executive
- Oversee mitigation plans, assurance cycles, and business continuity
- Interface with auditors, insurers, and regulators on risk matters
Business Intelligence & Analytics:
- Provide strategic leadership for the enterprise data strategy, ensuring robust data governance, architecture, integrity, and alignment with business objectives.
- Oversee the design and implementation of key performance indicators (KPIs), executive dashboards, and decision-support reporting to drive organisational performance and accountability.
- Partner with business units to leverage data analytics, predictive modelling, and scenario planning for improved forecasting and strategic decision-making.
- Champion a data-driven culture, fostering the use of a single, trusted source of truth to enhance transparency and evidence-based decision-making across the enterprise.
Vision/Strategy Development and Execution by:
- Lead the development and execution of Strategic Financial Targets.
- Lead the development and execution of corporate analytical strategies and plans aimed at the achievement of Strategic Plan deliverables.
- Facilitate and at times develop business cases to support strategic planning models.
Innovation, Growth and Organisational Capacity by:
- Create an environment for the development and execution of initiatives aimed at optimising talent and human resource potential and performance.
- Execute Organisational Culture initiatives and actions in the Division aimed at aligning culture with internal and external customer expectations and encouraging innovation and creativity in task management and delivery.
- Developing and executing organisational functional structures that optimise capability, potential and efficiency.
Customer-Stakeholder Management by:
- Develop and implement strategies for improving Customer Service in the Division.
- Provide finance/resources to internal customers.
- Provide timely, accurate and comprehensive professional financial guidance and advice on finance and taxation matters.
- Provide business advice on new strategic initiatives to the Internal Customers.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- ACCA or any other equivalent Post-Graduate Accounting qualification.
- Professional designation (CPA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent)
- An MBA
- A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in financial management or accounting operations, with at least three (3) years in a senior leadership role within a comparable organisation.
- Experience in the telecommunications industry will be considered an asset
- A proven track record of developing and successfully leading the execution of major financial strategic initiatives in comparable organisations.
- Knowledge of local and International Telecommunications Legislation, Regulation, Compliance and required Protocol
- Best practice Alliance/Vendor Management Systems and approaches
